Personally I prefer it that women not have tattoos, but piercings can be very sexy.[/img]

I've been thinking of either piercing my belly or my eyebrow this summer, but I don't have the money. So I'll do it next year. I'm going to get a tattoo or two (or three?) in the future, when I'm old enough. Probably on my lower back, shoulder blade, calf, hip or wherever. My teacher's cool. He has tattoos on both of his calves and his arms. A few ear piercings. Purple hair.

haha what a kewl teacher. he must be young. worst place for a tattoo in my opinion: on the back of the neck. i dont like the way it looks. my friend had her eyeliner tattooed on a few weeks ago. guess who had to go with her? i was in staring in horror the whole time.

Isn't it a common practice in asian countries though? A lot of people I know have their eyebrows tattoed in..
and yes.. piercings at the back of the neck are freaky.. I've seen ones on the chest too.
I'm a pretty big fan of tattoos so long as they're tastefully done and they make sense. I see it as another form of self expression.
I know every person (usually) has their own reasons for getting any particular tattoo, but sometimes I see these people with various tattoos and I have to wonder, "WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU SMOKING WHEN YOU DECIDED TO GET THAT SHIT???" I can say this 'cause my little brother once got stoned and liquored up and somehow ended up at a tattoo parlor. At the time, he thought that a big Merlin-esque wizard holding a crystal ball with the Chinese character for Wong (our last name) in it would be pretty nice. Thankfully, he passed out after just getting the character so the artist stopped.=P He's glad he passed out too.
Myself? I've got a dragon (1976) and my character across my back.
Girls with tattoos? That's a DEFINITE plus in my book...so long as her tat isn't bigger than mine, of course. That'd be kind of intimidating. :)
As for piercings, I'm down with that as well so long as the person doesn't over do it. Both of my brothers have pierced tongues. I'm kind of feeling left out... :?

lol, my friend's friend got his nipple piercing ripped out. He was in gym, and some guy ran up to him to purple nurple him, and accidentally ripped it out. Of course he didn't know that the guy had a nipple ring. Ouch! >_<
I was so close to either piercing my brow or my belly today. Then I found out that the place I went to (some beauty place called Vogue) only allowed piercings from Monday to Thursday. How silly is that? It would've cost 50 bucks for a belly piercing. I think that's a good price. What do you people think? Should I go back another day, or should I go for a lower price?
My friend wasted 80 bucks on her belly piercing. I don't really see the point if she doesn't show it. No offense to her, but blech. Her belly's a bit gross with the ingrown hairs on it and all. I like her barbell at least. It has red jewels in it.

I love tatts and I'm definitely gonna get some more. I've got three. I've got some leaves and vines on my left shoulder... from the tree of peace from one of my favorite authors. The chinese charaters for Laughter, Art and Love on my left bicep and the chinese characters for Open Mind, Learning and Loyalty on my right bicep. I was reading a lot of Tao Te Ching when I got the character tattoos.

I'm not against tatoos or piercings. But I have a 14 year old neice who wants to get her nose pierced. And I'm sure it would look great on her. But my sister says.. if you want to get your nose pierced... you have to wait until your an adult and 18 years old. My sister's way of thinking is... one should be an adult when making any decisions of wanting to make any permanent mark on yourself...
and I kinda agree with her...

I'm in 100% agreement there too. Tattoos, in particular, are not things to mess around with, even with the availability of laser tattoo removal (that stuff costs a pretty penny and isn't 100% effective, from what I hear).
If I would've gotten a tattoo when I was younger, I'd probably have an Autobot insignia permanently affixed to my chest right now.=) Just kidding. But this kid that I used to work with got a Jessica and Roger Rabbit, that Looney Toons Frog, some flaming poker hand and some other random stuff. He was about 16 when he started.=P Then again, maybe not everyone cares that there's all that great a signficance to their permanent body art...?

Ouch. Parents are getting their infants' ears pierced now??
Man I feel old.
I've fancied getting a small tattoo for the past couple of years, but as time continues to pass, I keep thinking how much more cheesy it'd look for me to do it, since I'm such an old fart.

piercings infants ears has been going on for ages. as soon as the baby's old enough the parent takes her to be pierced. supposedly its "cute" and also if the ears are pierced as a young child they will never close up in the future.

Funny you should mention that. I was actually playing with the idea of tatting my children at a young age as a preemptive measure. Hopefully then, the novelty of tattoos won't be there and they won't have an interest in 'em. After all, heaven forbid that my kids decide to go overboard and get a crazier tat than their old man! Okay, just kidding. First of all, that's probably child abuse. Second of all, that'd probably just send 'em over the deep end ("Well, I've already got this tat, apparently my dad doesn't mind, why the hell not go for the full body suit?"). Fuck that.
I'm personally against piercing infants' ears anyways. That's purely a selfish thing for the parents. Once my kid's old enough to actually WANT and ASK FOR piercings, that's another issue.

I have a buddy that I think of to keep me in check with tattoos. To think long and hard about what I'm gonna scar my body with... Let me describe him to you:
First off I have to mention he's a huge Rob Zombie fan.
He's got like 10 tatt's on his legs, almost sleeving them. The pictures are of zombies, and skeletons and other assorted undead creatures...
He's got his last name 'Steele' in old english across his lower back..
and finally he has his first name tatted on the inside of his lip.
I think eventually he wants to be fully sleeved; legs and arms.
I worry about what he'll look like when he's old. I wonder if the black in his tatts will spread and turn into a disgusting blob. For anybody that doesn't know, this is what happens to some tatts that contain a lot of ink not deep enough. Seeing his shit makes me wanna get more and at the same time no more(did that make sense). At least it makes me stop to think whether I'll be happy with my tatts when I gotta explain it to my grandkids.

yeah i think thats something weve all heard. i was originally taking getting a butterfly tattoo lightly until my boyfriend jokingly told me that it would shrivel up into some other insect over the years. also tat removal is expensive, painful, and never 100%. theres always some mark left behind, which is why id go for places not seen everyday by myself -- like my back. piercings are a lot easier to get rid of. i lost 1 after i did it myself and it got infected.

That's why you never get a tattoo merely on a whim. Think long and hard enough about what you want, why you want it and where on your body you want it and none of that stuff needs to be an issue. I was playing with the idea of getting a tattoo for over four years before I did anything about it. And I pretty much had the design in mind for a good two years before I finally went out and got it. Thus far, I've no regrets.
Another thing is to make sure you go to an artist whose work you like. The scary shit about my tattoo is that my artist first just did a red felt tipped pen rough rough sketch just to show me the placement. She then wiped it off (!!) and it was all freehand with the needle from then on. But I'd seen her stuff so I trusted her.

I didn't know there was anything wrong with being a guy and having a tongue piercing... Is there some stigma about it that it should only be something a girl should have? If you want to site sex as a reason...it goes both ways does it not? I think tatts and piercings are a form of expression not relegated to one sex or the other.
I think tongue piercings on girls are pretty sexy...never really "experienced" it though. Both of my brothers have tongue piercings and it seems to me that it could be a very practical piercing. I was wondering if women found that to be enticing at all.

i have 6 on various parts of my ears... normal lobe, cartilage, and that other thingy on the inside...
and i have my tongue pierced and my belly button pierced. and my first 2 tattoos are a secret... :) but the third one is the kanji character for "protected"... the next one is of a bow and arrow design...
i was going to get this reallly really awwwesome tribal butterfly design, but i figured i'd already covered one typical tattoo area with the kanji. =x i'll post some pictures later.
I have two tattoos, a navel ring, cartilage, and regular ear piercings.
I wanted a lower lip ring (with a hoop, not a stud) but since I work now, it's not gonna happen. I wanted a tongue ring but was worried about damage to my teeth.
Tattoos are addicting - I want two or three more eventually...

7 regular ear ones, 2 cartilage (actually one closed), 2 tattoos. Planning to get another tat (maybe 2) and re-pierce the cartilage that closed.

I have three earlobe piercings on each ear, cartilage pierced on each ear, and a tongue piercing.
I would love to have a labret or small nose stud, but don't think it's for me. I feel too old to get new piercings now, especially facial ones.
I got my first tattoo last August. My name in Persian with the Libra symbol around it, at the centre of my lower back. I can definitely see how getting tattoos can be addicting. I would want more, but I'm a bit anal about things matching and symmetry and having meaning. It took me two years alone to decide that I really wanted this tattoo, and wouldn't regret it. I don't know how I could come up with another design that would not make me feel like an asymmetric doodle on someone's notebook. So I guess that's the end of tattooing for me, for now.
