Go grab it now (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx), please, for the future of web design. Then go tell your pointy haired bosses that it has been released. Don't forget to use buzzwords.

I can't imagine why anyone would get excited over the release of a web browser.=P

And I'm firmly a firefox user from here on out.

FF works better, in my opinion that IE7, with the Yahoo Beta email interface.

A big thumbs up to Microsoft for finally realizing that the standards-compliant browser is the marketable one. They did make a ton of improvements to their CSS rendering engine and although I still prefer Firefox, IE7 has made a ton of headway. And don't tell me the Firefox community isn't a wee bit concerned.

Firefox users will stick with Firefox but the concern is that with the vastly improved IE7, Firefox may not attract as many new users.
IE7 is good. Not for me since I use Firefox. But it's good for the poor souls who've been using IE6 all this time.

Just 2 months ago someone asked me:
"Have you seen the new MSN toolbar?"
Me: "What about it?"
Him: "Look!"
He shows me the tab feature in IE on his laptop.
Him: "There's tabs! You can open mutliple sites without opening a new window!"
Me: "You're kidding right?"
I show him the tabs in Firefox on my laptop.
Him: "Oh Netscape does that now too?"
Me: "It's not Netscape. It's Firefox and it's been doing it for 4 years now."

I seriously feel bad for them. It's like they're just now emerging from the cassette tape era.

Anyway, Firefox 2.0 is scheduled for release on Tuesday.

Although I will stick with Firefox, any kind of movement away from IE6 and below is a very good thing. MS is going to stay competitive and keep working on IE (it still does not support the application/xhtml+xml content type).

But what I want to see now is for standards (good standards) to come out, since all modern browsers will continue to support them in the years to come.

In terms of standards, both Firefox and IE7 are wanting.

eep ;_;

An Internet Explorer 7 flaw, found just hours after the browser's launch, could result in sensitive data such as your internet banking details falling into the hands of criminals, says Danish security firm Secunia.
"A vulnerability has been discovered in Internet Explorer, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose potentially sensitive information," says an advisory published on the Secunia website.
"The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the handling of redirections for URLs ... This can be exploited to access documents served from another web site," the advisory reads.
The flaw enables attackers to steal user information that's being entered on a separate website, just as long as the user is visiting a site exploiting the flaw in another window.
It is understood that one possible scenario entails attackers leading users to an infected website, hoping that they will at the same time login to an online bank account. Should this occur, the attacker would be able to hijack the user's username and password.

And it's similar to a flaw in IE6. So contrary to what has been said, IE7 was not a complete rewrite.

If you guys haven't checked out Opera 9, you probably should. I still use Firefox and not Opera because I like the functionality of the Google Toolbar for Firefox, but Opera runs much faster and complies with standards a bit better. I'm pretty sure Opera is more secure, as well:

If Opera supported Firefox's extensions, I would be all over it. Opera is definately faster and more standards compliant than Firefox or IE7.

I'm using FF 1.5, though I think my problem has to do with opening more than one browser window than with the browser.

I am resisting buying more ram, despite knowing from experience that XP works best with 512 MB ram.

As far as IE7 is concerned, I don't like the fact that I can't get rid of some of the things on the toolbars, as well as, combine the menu bar with the address bar.

What happened to the refresh icon?
