that's because billy corgan is a camera whore and a control freak.
ahahaha. well, not really a camera whore.. but.
i mean, he only co-wrote a handful of songs with billy.
he has his solo album but it didn't do well.
is he popular in japan?

I never could get into him. I always thought Smashing Pumpkins was overrated. I'd like to see if he can come out with a real stomper of an album though. The last solo album was too despondent for me.
For what it's worth, he had/has a very good look though.

I thought he was good looking when I was in 7th grade. I wonder what he looks like now. Lemme go do a search. =)

i liked the pumpkins but i heard that james iha's solo project sucked. GR did do an interview with him though. i don't know why he didn't get coverage from those more "high profile" asian american mags. or maybe he did and i just didn't know?

i'm not sure if he's the absolute first asian rock star in the states. but he's probably the first one to make it as big as he did.

Well, what about Yoko Ono? Even though she was born in Japan and all. Is she considered a rock star? I know she was a musician.

Eww... yoko. She's not exactly a rocker.
James Iha... I thought he went and crossed over to country??
Kai.... I know they suck, but they did try their best to obtain media interest in asians. oh well.
Coco Lee... Although she can sing, her english album didn't have good songs.
Seriously though, I think Utada Hikaru has the best chance to make an impact towards the American Media. I mean she already did that number with foxy brown. And she writes her own songs. =)

yeah i know she tried to sell an english album some years ago, but just didn't go anywhere. i think she was 12 or 13 or something like that. but at this point, it doesn't seem like she cares all that much about the US market. she cares more about the asian market. and really, if she can get into the chinese market, she doesn't need the US market to make money. don't know how popular she is in the mainland though, but people in HK seem to like her enough.
