dvd drive

my cousin gave me her laptop and the stupid dvd drive doesn't work. well it works but at really random times. it's a pretty old laptop and just want to know if it's worth it to change the drive or should i just save up for a new laptop. i want to save it cuz all my mp3s are on there. any help would be highly appreciated.

I guess it really depends on whether they even make replacement drives for it. If it's that old, I'm guessing probably not. In which case it's time to get a new laptop.

If the only reason you're hanging onto the old lappy is because all of your mp3s are on it, you can always network the new with the old and transfer files before tossing the old one. Or you can hook up an external hard drive or burner to it and offload 'em that way. Or, if you don't have too too many mp3s, you can transfer them via a higher capacity USB drive.

everything involves money. i guess it's time to turn up the charm and see if anyone will lend me one of the above things you mention. or better yet, just do it for me. LOL
