According to angry, on the second season of flava of love, some mixed blasian girl was doing the opposite of that Top Model girl Gina and actually praising asian guys according to Angryasianman.com
Can anyone confirm? I've only seen the showdown between Hoops and New York during the first season. Guess love only lasts so long eh?

Okay, I have never seen this show on VH1, Flavor of Love, nor did I know that there was a Flavor of Love 2. According to the website, it's Flavor Flav's "romantical experiment." My man Tien recently wrote in to tell me about Jasmine, aka "Payshyntz," a Black/Chinese model who has been featured on the show. I'll let him explain:

Thought you might like to know that a friend of mine, Jasmine, is a mixed race (Black/Chinese) model that has been featured on the reality show "Flavor of Love 2". What is notable is her proclaimation on each episode that she has only dated Chinese men in her life. She has gotten much negative feedback from fellow contestants for such comments, eventually leading to her self-elimination from the show this week. However, she has, at each moment, defended Asian guys as ideal partners. She also speaks Mandarin fluently, lives in Hong Kong, and has tried to promote Asian guys in general during her tenure on the show. Thought that might be interesting to you. There seems to be growing buzz around her comments, as evidenced by chatroom traffic, etc.

Thought that was pretty interesting (though not interesting enough for me to tune in). Maybe she saw Gina on America's Next Top Model ("I'm not into Asian guys...") and decided she'd go the opposite route.

yes, it's true. i caught the episode where she eliminated herself.

you also get some of the other contestants say derogatory shit, which is subtitled like this: "asian £$%@ have small %@&*£" and i can't figure out what word is after "asian".

i just watched the re-run of the episode. i'm glad she took herself out of that show, because that show, as entertaining as it is, is just out to make those girls look like crazy hos.

i like that she was speaking Chinese. and while i know there are plenty of girls who like and appreciate Asian guys, it's very refreshing to hear someone say it on national TV.

That's great that asian guys are finally getting some love in the media, but it does seem counterproductive for Jasmine if she was serious about this game. I would find that annoying if I was dating a girl and she kept on saying how black men are ideal partners.

You got it, my friend. Here's just a sample of what someone thinks...and I completely agree with her:

Furthermore, Mr. Clock Man (or should I say Father Time) allowing the network to air the piece on the sister who supposedly defecates on the set, is just as disgusting as Norman. Father Time does not realize that by agreeing to this fiasco he may as well have inserted his mother, grandmother, or sister in the place of the woman because they too will be factored into the stereotypical image equation. And what about the sister who went along with this-- hairweave flying, smiling from behind the bathroom door. "I couldn't hold it" and in a later interview justifying her actions. We've all had incidents where our bodies have chosen to do what it wants to do and our brains have no control, but do we allow it to be exploited. This kind of filth and greed is beyond me. Some old white man said something about "all the world is a stage" (don't worry, I know who) but does this mean that we as a people must continue to be shit on the floor or shitted upon in this performance.

There was a time when we would let "the other" exalt in this kind of madness. There was a clear and definitive line of self respect. "They acted like that", we didn't. But that was in the "olden days", no more. Welcome to the world of assimilation.

I really hate it when people take my life and my self-image into their hands. Damnit I know who I am. Give me a break. Moreover, I am just plain old tired of the bullshit (last pun, I promise).

having said that, why are y'all so happy about her "praising Asian men"? From what I saw, it sounded like she liked Asian men because they treat her "like a princess".

She's likes Asian men because she can walk all over them and they worship her like a princess? That's what it sounds like to me.

As far as Somethin shitting on the floor.......................while it was funny, I'm not sure how that makes black people look bad. As far as I know, she's like the only black person in history to ever shit on somebody else's floor. Or at least the only one to do it on national TV.

I can understand how it can be seen as funny, but at the same time it's kinda sad because that's a grown woman...do you think you'll EVER see a white woman shitting herself on a show like this? Or an Asian woman, for that matter?

You didn't see or hear of any white woman — or the FEW women of color appearing — shitting herself on those Bachelor shows, did you? There's no dignity here, as Akane said. of course she's not interested in Flav the person. like all the other girls there, she was only interested in Flav the money and fame. doesn't cast a good light on her for being on the show, but i think she redeems herself for leaving the show on her own accord.

Yea it wasn't meant to be an inspiring epiphany or anything~but for some reason I didn't really happen to really notice it until my Women's Studies course a few years ago. The same can be said for Asian people who are, at the white man's convenience, said to be either loyal and resourceful lapdogs or sneaky wily traitors, or in the case of black people, either wise, enlightened, knowledgeable people who teach you how to dance and have rhythm, or violent criminals. This is pretty much true with anything and everything that mainstream media exploits, including the concept of nature itself, which is either portrayed as a place for us to retreat and become more "spiritual" and get in touch with ourselves whatever that means, or as unpredictable, dangerous, and something that needs to be controlled. Funny how this runs so parallel to how dominant culture views groups in the minority.

I finally saw part of the episode where Toastee gets eliminated, and I sorta understand her point. She admitted that she had done nude photos, but in her mind, she still hadn't become a porn actress because she hadn't yet done boy-girl action. Too bad for her because if she had admitted to that, she still might have stayed on as she was cuter than most of the women there.

But, I don't get the whole Nibbles-Toastee thing. I don't know why Toastee would tell her potential competition anything scandalous. And, it seemed that Nibbles was using Toastee's porn past to get her eliminated. But, didn't Nibbles do porn as well? Why wasn't Nibbles eliminated as well?
