Dumb butt question re: wireless

Being absolutely clueless in wireless connections, hope this isn't too dumb of a question: How do you turn of your SSID?

usually, what you do is (the following details are for a netgear router; they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer) is to:
1) Connect to your router by typing "192.168.0.1" into the address bar of your preferred browser. It could be 192.168.0.101 or something else; check your manual. It will ask for your username (should be 'admin' or similar) and password (check your manual)
2) There should be a link for wireless settings in the navigation bar. Go there.
3) You will find a section for Access Point settings. Uncheck "Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)", hit "apply", and logout of the router.
