Truthfully, I don't believe this. Christianity is supposed to be anti-porn. And this sort of stuff is not in god's plan for his believers.
... recent research is revealing that no one is immunized against the vice-grip clutches of sexual addictive behaviors. The people who struggle with the repeated pursuit of sexual gratification include church members, deacons, staff, and yes, even clergy.
ChristiaNet Poll Finds That Evangelicals Are Addicted to Porn (http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release_html_b1?release_id=151336)
HOUSTON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 07, 2006 -- If there could be one place protected from the cancerous infection of pornography and sexual misconducts, one would assume that the Christian church would be that sanctuary. But, recent research is revealing that no one is immunized against the vice-grip clutches of sexual addictive behaviors. The people who struggle with the repeated pursuit of sexual gratification include church members, deacons, staff, and yes, even clergy. And, to the surprise of many, a large number of women in the church have become victim to this widespread problem. Recently, the world's most visited Christian website, ChristiaNet.com, conducted a survey asking site visitors eleven questions about their personal sexual conduct. (http://www.christianet.com)
Amazingly, there were one thousand responses to the poll conducted by ChristiaNet.com. ChristiaNet.com partnered with Second Glance Ministries in evaluating the poll responses and it seems the Christian community is struggling with many of the same "temptations" that the secular society is faced with.
"The poll results indicate that 50% of all Christian men and 20% of all Christian women are addicted to pornography," said Clay Jones, founder and President of Second Glance Ministries whose ministry objectives include providing people with information which will enable them to fully understand the impact of today's societal issues. 60% of the women who answered the survey admitted to having significant struggles with lust; 40% admitted to being involved in sexual sin in the past year; and 20% of the church-going female participants struggle with looking at pornography on an ongoing basis.
"There have been dynamic paradigm shifts in the behavior of Christians over the last four years," explained Jones. "Technology [the Internet] has allowed pornography to flood the market place beyond a controllable level." Jones' ministry also includes providing Christian intervention programs for churches and for individuals. All of Second Glance Ministries' services are free and recipients may remain anonymous.
"We directed over 100,000 inquiries to Second Glance Ministries in one year," stated ChristiaNet.com's President, Bill Cooper. "We are seeing an escalation to the problem in both men and women who regularly attend church." ChristiaNet.com is committed to addressing the devastating consequences that sexual addictions can have on a family and society by providing a safe environment for blogging discussions and referrals.

Has everyone suddenly forgotten the whole priests molesting alter boy thing already?
I'd think you'd be relieved by this though, at least there isn't wide spread pedophilia.

Christianity is also supposed to be love-your-brother, turn-the-other-cheek, and all that jazz. Yet how many Christians manage to adhere to those principles? So why are you surprised about the porn?

Because christianty = purity.
And pR0n is the work of the devil.
And apparently, the devil has gotten ahold of some poor christian souls. :frown:
Just don't get caught with your pants down, good christian people, when jEsus returns.

Yet again:
- Murder is a sin.
- Plenty of Christians have murdered people
- In terms of sinfulness, consuming porn is probably a magnitude or more lower down on the scale on murder
It would then follow that at least a magnitude more people utilize pornographic materials.
Also, that survey is hardly scientific. It suffers from self-selection bias and non-random sampling.

Um...why is this such a big deal. Christians are sinners just like everyone else and no one ever said anything about Christians being free from the temptation of any type of sin, regardless of whether you view pornography as being a sin or not.

Well, look what gets the most attention in the movies and TV. Sex. Murder and killer mayhem are just kewl beans.

There are plenty of people that go to church and deem themselves christian that still do plenty of non-christian activities during the week.

^Which leads to one of my favorite quotes, by Dr. Laurence J. Peter:
“Going to church does not make you a Christian anymore than going to the garage makes you a car.”

^ That's not entirely accurate. Because it's quite possible to go to church and be a Christian, while it's impossible for anyone who goes into a garage to be a car.
I'm being stupid I know.

Hence the reason he used the word "make" rather than "be". I think he was one step ahead of you on that one

No. That's why they keep the young, virginal nuns inside the convent so that guys like us can't get at them.

The problem is not that they submit to these urges themselves, but they are so quick to condemn others when they can and do 'fail' themselves.
This is true of all faiths, but I'm thinking specifically of a few young Muslims I know, living the fast life here in London as a prelude/anticipation of a more austere lifestyle later.
Islam and The High Life would be a better thread, because, wow, those guys are wild.

It's the same thing with how people may find the schoolgirl look hot...it's like a paradox with the whole image of innocence or purity in contrast with promiscuity and sex.

Exactly.
While it may be true that many Christians simply use this as an excuse for them to continue bad behavior, the truth of the matter is that even the most devoted Chrisitans still struggle with sin, since no one is perfect, no matter how "saved" they are.
Christianity is supposed to be a journey, not a destination. Once you are saved, you still will sin, however you are trying to get closer to God.
Why this is surprising, I'm not sure.

Well, it seems that the cure for that would be to stick one's nose in the good book more than sticking it in some porn mag.
Christianity is supposed to be a journey, not a destination. Once you are saved, you still will sin, however you are trying to get closer to God.
Why this is surprising, I'm not sure.
You are supposed to have arrived when you have entered the kingdom through the good book. Once you have arrived, then the journey is aided by the path set out by the good book.
The good book is better than mapquest, lest yee forget. You will only find yourself off the beating path if you follow that which is set up in something akin to pornquest. Abraham would suggest that you need to drop that porn mag in one hand and the pud in the other and afix both hands to each end of the hardbound covers of the good book.
Salvation is really easy that way. Just read, and read, and read, and read, and read, and read, and read, the good book daily. And when you feel that carnal pinch in your loins, you read, and read, and read, and read, and read the good book some more.
Goes the same for when you toot some green root.

I respectfully disagree.
God has a plan for us all. You can find references to this in all places of the good book. Therefore, if you are playing with yourself, god has deemed that necessary for your growth. It is up to you, then for you to figure out why.
You would probably score more points with the man up above if you figure this out somewhere between getting super hard and splooging. For once you have splooged, you will have cuminated your act of sin.
Sin like this is not good. Obviously, there is more to clean up when you cut yourself, but splooge clean up can be a holy, sticky situation too. Just look at the biblical references to seed being spread, unreligiously.

DAD:
There are Jews in the world.
There are Buddhists.
There are Hindus and Mormons, and then
There are those that follow Mohammed, but
I've never been one of them.
I'm a Roman Catholic,
And have been since before I was born,
And the one thing they say about Catholics is:
They'll take you as soon as you're warm.
You don't have to be a six-footer.
You don't have to have a great brain.
You don't have to have any clothes on. You're
A Catholic the moment Dad came,
Because
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
CHILDREN:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
GIRL:
Let the heathen spill theirs
On the dusty ground.
God shall make them pay for
Each sperm that can't be found.
CHILDREN:
Every sperm is wanted.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.
MUM:
Hindu, Taoist, Mormon,
Spill theirs just anywhere,
But God loves those who treat their
Semen with more care.
MEN:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
WOMEN:
If a sperm is wasted,...
CHILDREN:
...God get quite irate.
PRIEST:
Every sperm is sacred.
BRIDE and GROOM:
Every sperm is good.
NANNIES:
Every sperm is needed...
CARDINALS:
...In your neighbourhood!
CHILDREN:
Every sperm is useful.
Every sperm is fine.
FUNERAL CORTEGE:
God needs everybody's.
MOURNER #1:
Mine!
MOURNER #2:
And mine!
CORPSE:
And mine!
NUN:
Let the Pagan spill theirs
O'er mountain, hill, and plain.
HOLY STATUES:
God shall strike them down for
Each sperm that's spilt in vain.
EVERYONE:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.

God gets quite iraaaaaate!

/\ That almost looks like IM in poetry form.
Why does god put so much sperm into a load? Isn't that inefficient? Why can't sperm be more stronger? Why can't they be the size of goldfish?
The devil invented porn to tempt weak minds.
Most pornographers are republican.
Therefore, the devil is republican.

Turbo Teen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Turbo Teen is an animated series that aired Saturday mornings on the ABC network for twelve episodes between 1984 and 1985. Since the series was short lived, several websites feature Turbo Teen as one of the worst cartoon series ever made. The series was once rerun on the USA Network's now-defunct USA Cartoon Express block.
The main story is about a teenager named Brett Matthews, who swerves off a road during a thunderstorm and crashes into a secret government laboratory. There, he and his red sports car are accidentally exposed to a molecular beam and the two become fused together. As a result, Brett has the ability to change shape into the car when exposed to heat, and reverts back into his human form when exposed to cold. With this new super hero power, Brett and his friends (who call him "TT") go on crime fighting adventures and thwart evildoers. As a subplot, Brett constantly searches for a way to return back to normal.
A reoccurring villain is the mysterious "Dark Rider" who seeks to capture TT and find the secret behind his abilities.
The show was produced by Ruby-Spears Productions. It was broadcast during the growing popularity of the Knight Rider television series and mirrors much of it, even down to very similar sounding theme music. The car that Brett turns into looks like a Chevrolet Camaro, which is the sister car of the Pontiac Trans Am that KITT is modeled after.

Evangelist's Son Arrested For Child Porn (http://www.queerty.com/queer/news/evangelists-son-arrested-for-child-porn-20060825.php)
— Fri, Aug 25, 2006 — | Filed by Frank
It's always somewhat amusing and satisfying when shame comes to those who don't practice what they preach, but the story of 24-year-old Zachary Daubenmire (pictured) is also creepy. Daubenmire, who still lives with his parents, was preparing to teach special education at the local highschool by day, and downloading and trading child porn on his evangelist father's computer by night, and was eventually busted by police.
We agree with our buddy Pam's assertion that the strangest part of the entire story is the way the father Dave refers to his son as though he is 12 years old:
Its certainly an addiction this struck our son -- our 24 year old son -- who has never been to the principal's office in his life ... I tell people this: go home tonight and check your child's computer. Look into their files and hack into their files. It was in our home under our eyes.
Do 24-year-old "children" get sent to the principal's office? We concede that they sometimes do, but only in porn starring those 18 and over, so Zachary would probably not be familiar.
