hi guys!
i own the samsung mp3 player model YP-Z5F (http://www.samsung.com/sg/products/audio/mp3player/yp_z5fqb.asp). although the mp3 player works fine, i can't transfer any songs onto it because of a software error.
the requirements to install the software (called media studio) are:
- pentium 300MHz or higher (not completely sure )
- windows 98SE/2000/XP (currently running windows 98, but i'm not sure if it's the special edition..)
- 100mb of free hard disc space (done)
- USB port 2.0 (done)
- directx 9.0 or higher (done)
- cd rom drive (2x or higher) (done)
but when i finish the installing procedure, i get this error (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v104/Anuma/errorr.jpg) when i try to start the program.
i initially thought the problem was the directx version (which was lower than 9.0 so we got it updated) but it still didn't work..
:( anyone know what's up?

I would do one of two things: 1. Install the drivers to your samsung. You can probably find it at the Samsung site. 2. Reformat the MP3 player. Then restart teh computer and see if that helps. DirectX should have nothing to do with the problem.

The site classifies it as a mass storage device; there are no drivers for her to install unless WinXP borked all mass storage devices, including thumbdrives. Besides, the problem is with the software, not the hardware. If the software does transcoding, then DirectX definitely could be part of the problem.
robotic, try uninstalling both the software and DirectX 9 if you can, then reinstall DX 9 and the software. If that doesn't work, try it on another computer to see if your copy of Media Studio is corrupted.

I'd go out on a limb and say that it's because it's the non-SE version, but that's just me.

Who knows, it's probably a bunch of problems, I haven't used win98 since 1999.

I still stand by the other part of my original statement. If the software does transcoding, then DirectX 9 can be involved.

True, lol, I don't know - when my USB stick or my friends I just end up reformatting the sucker and then reinstalling all the drivers.
