Dell's keyboards don't hold up very well. I had to fix my roommates keyboard three of four times, and one time involved some soldering.

i'd get an optimus when they come out if it weren't for its short lifespan. the oled screens that the keyboard uses have an average lifespan of 1-2 years

my vote is for the IBM Model M keyboards. mechanical switches, not membranes like most found on the market these days, so they have excellent feedback. built like tanks, they are. it's pretty common to hear about ones made in the 80's that are still in great shape today.

Although it doesn't seem to have the greatest range, and it'll suck for gaming, I'm pretty happy with the Logitech MX 3000 Cordless Laser Desktop (mouse/keyboard combo) I picked up not too long ago for about $15 after rebate.

Some people say that the mac bluetooth/non-bluetooth keyboards have some of the best tactile response. I like them.
