no brembo rotor are on alota cars, their a big OEM. what im talking about is brembo systems 4-6 piston calipers, matched rotor, stainless lines. a braking system.

upgraded braking systems: in general i think there is alot of confusion in this subject especially in the Honda/Acura community. And the methodology behind why and what do you upgrade in your braking system is confused also. here's my 2 cents.
basic:
brakes are essentially hydralically powered pumps that create friction w/ the road then the pedal is stepped on consisting of numerous componets such as pads/ discs (im not the expert on brake drums so i'll skip that), calipers which hold the pads and mechanically manipulate them, brake lines that lead to to the master brake cylinder, brake fluid resovoir. Im skipping ABS sensors and etc. basically w/ brakes u step on the pedal it sends pressure or an electronic signal to the master brake cylinder which compresses the hydraulic fluid causing pressure to go onto the calipers piston(s) which press in the pad onto the disc making friction causing the car to stop.
Different types of braking upgrades
1. Uprated brake pads to an asbestors blend, semi-metallic/ asbestos material, metallic material, or carbon metallic material
+
2. Uprated rotors that are either larger or have cross drilled venting holes/ slots.
3. brake systems that use different lines, calipers, pads, and rotors(discs) also known as a big brake kit. Typically these use off the self racing components such as 4-piston or 6 piston fixed calipers, Cast-drilled/ vented rotors, stainless lines are common w. these kits and they range from 2-8k in price. these tend to stop in shorter distances and as the brakes get hot as the cars being run will fade less and produce more consistent stopping distances.
*Stainless brake lines for more firm pedal and less heat expansion of the brake lines.
4. OEM swap brake systems this is common in the nissan camp especially. The nissan 300zx can use brakes from the nissan skyline GTS/GTR, Mistu 3000gt VR4, 240sx Q45 2 piston caliper brakes, skyline gts/gtr, 300zx brakes, JDM model silvia brakes. Audi's can use porsche brakes from the 911 and 911 turbo. its basically taking the front braking system off another car and using it on your lower level car.
the issue i have is alot of people increase the horsepower of their vehicle and think brakes are fine stock. Just uprating the pads or getting cross drilled rotors is enuff to help aid in safety. Good pads and rotors go a long way but, there are alot of shoddy products on the market that crack or warp or for pads dust/ wear quickly. For rotors top quality ones like CRX boy mentioned like Brembo OEM style ones (non cross drilled) are preferable to cross drilled ones that are prone to crack. Brembo and other highquality manufacturers such as brembo, endless, project Mu, Apex-i (japan only) make excellent rotors that wont crack and are only sumwhat more expensive and wont crack. with brake rotors and pads u really get what u pay for.
Also their are immitation big brake systems that use an adapted single piston caliper and larger rotor for that "Brembo's" look. These systems i was gonna say are a waste of money and honestly you should just spend 2 grand on an inexpensive stoptech kit instead of 1200-1500 on fake big brakes from various companies...if u want to get a solid more powerful brake upgrade.
ne additions? to my rant
You forgot the "painting the stock calipers" upgrade. I hear you can reduce stopping distances by up to 20% with this minor modification.=) HAhaha!! Just kidding. This was pretty popular back in the Prelude circles (just for aesthetics)...I'm not so sure about in other circles though.

painting calipers is pointless to do what look like u have stock caliper sized brembos. =P
As I said, people did it purely for aesthetics... Just to add a little color and a hint of faux sportiness to their rides. I don't see anything wrong with that...

i was talking about brembro brand rotors. The brand of rotors that are on skylines, supras, and a majority of the nascars.

brembos are a common OEM rotor they make pretty much rotors for everyone and everything...i needa get sum new crossdrilled ones upfront probs denno my stock s15 has sum weird issues (swaped these sat, 4 piston caliper, 30mm brake rotor)hmm... rotor maybe warped...find out after today when the alignments done.

I'm a brake whore. 13" two piece custom rotors front and rear. Wilwood 4-piston calipers front (larger pistons than rear) and rear. They did not make it so I had it custom made.
