That sucks, man. He had a real distinct voice as far as the animation he worked in. That Samurai Jack cartoon and that Avatar one that my little cousins eat up with a spoon. RIP.

He had a good long career, with more good roles than most. Ever see a Japanese production called Bird People of China? Lovely film.

The article says he died of "esophageal cancer". Is that related to smoking?

It's sad that two veterans of cinema, Jack Warden and Mako, died this weekend. Even sadder is how few news agencies have carried the story of Mako's passing compared to Warden. Both had careers stretching back to the 50's, both were recognizable character actors.
The Mako story is correct, right?

This is really sad.
Aside from seeing him onstage occasionally at the East West Players, I saw him in person at Dragon Fest once.
