I bought an ipod 30 G model a few weeks ago....

and although the model claims to have 14 hours of batter life fully charged....

I don't get anywhere close to it(more like, 1 hour of battery life  )

How long am I supposed to charge it for it to be considered "fully charged"?

2 hours?

4 hours?

did i get a defective battery?

Man, your experience with your 30 GB model may be typical.

I was talking to this dude at a bus stop who had himself a 30 GB iPod, and he was complaining about how the 14 hours seemed like a farse.

.
Meanwhile, my mini gets 4 hours, no sweat.

weird i got a ipod video, and the bat life is pretty darn good. I can't remember the last time I charged it, and while I don't listen to it religiously I always have enough for one hour trips every few weeks (I guess it conserves a lot during non-use

Take it back to an Apple store if you've got it under warranty or some support plan.

I did for mine when the battery wasn't up to snuff.

I asked the Applebardude about battery life, and he just tsked, and indicated that, "Oh, yeah, it should last for hours!"

Hold them too it. Of course, they might have to initialize the little harddrive.

I got the 30 gig video one also last weekend. I like it, but i do agree it doesn't seem like the batt. will last as long as they say it's supposed to. This was my main problem that kept me from getting an iPod before now.

The only time it's ran for more then 5 hours straight is when I forgot to shut it off before I went to sleep. One thing that might help is to set the back light display to turn it's self off after like 3 seconds.

Reserve a time on the web, first.

Because you'll probably have to wait around, if you try to signup for the tech support when you come-in.

Oh. Sorry.

Wonder what a Circuit City's support would be like.

Here's a good link on how to extend the life of the batt.

Extend IPod Batt Life (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61434)

another one:

Batt life by model (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61475)

No prob. The batt life statement by Apple is somewhat misleading.

Basicaly you have to let your ipod play with none of the enhancements turned on to get the 15 hours of batt life (if you have the video one).
