Today, the 20th, Wednesday night, 7:00 PM Korea/Japan time, there are two really interesting soccer games happening.
The first is Japan vs Argentina in Saitama. Argentina is heavily favored because they are using their same WC squad with the determination to prove that they are good after a miserable WC performance, while Japan is using mostly J-League players for evaluation purposes only, and leaving its European stars in Europe so as not to disrupt their club campains.
Meanwhile the more important game (for me anyway) will be in Seoul where the Korean team will suit up against World Champion Brazil. Brazil is heavily favored for obvious reasons, but they will not be using any of their European players as well (Ronaldo) while Korea is planning to use all K-League and J-League players. It might be close, but I think Brazil will come out on top. Go Reds.
Now I only have to find a place in Japan that will be showing the Korean game and not the Japanese one... heheh.

Ehh... What are you talking about?
BOTH Korea and Brazil are bustin' out the big guns for this one! Both sides have called up their European based players for this game (and have pissed them off all their club teams in the process.) This is gonna rock!!
For Korea:
Chong gug Song - (Feyenoord)
Ki Hyeon Seol (Anderlecht)
For Brazil:
Belletti (Villarreal)
Cafu (AS Roma)
Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid)
Juan (Bayer Leverkusen)
Lucio (Bayer Leverkusen)
Edmilson (Lyon)
Serginho (AC Milan)
Emerson (AS Roma)
Flavio Conceicao (Real Betis)
Gilberto Silva (Arsenal)
Juninho Pernambucano (Lyon)
Ze Roberto (Bayern Munich)
Amoroso (Borussia Dortmund)
Denilson (Real Betis)
Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
Ronaldinho (Paris St Germain)
Luizao (Hertha Berlin)
Franca (Bayer Leverkusen)
Only notable missing from Brazil is the 3rd "R," Rivaldo, who asked to be left off, and Brazil allowed it.

Oh, well I stand corrected.
It's kinda hard to find out about that when you live in Japan and the media here focuses on Japanese people all over the world and no one else.
I think I read somewhere that they were not gonna bust out the big guns, but I may have confused the 30 articles about Japans team with the 1 about the Brazil Korea game.

Probably so. I find that the Internet is the best anyway for news like this. There's absolutely no print media here in the US that even mentions this kinda stuff.

Interesting enough, he plays for Feyenoord, in the Ned., with Shinji Ono of the Japanese team, and there are rumors that that team will get Park Ji Sung of the Korean team, or Naohiro Takahara of the Japanese team, or both!

Yes, but I have come to follow Euro sports like cycling and football recently, because American sports have become boring to me.

I've always hated soccer until this world cup and upon arriving in japan and not having football.
I miss football.
I think I'd like soccer in the USA a lot more if it drew more fans.

Random question
Why on earth did Japan choose blue for their soccer uniforms? Red and White would make sense.
Is it because there are too many red and white teams in their vicinity?
Korea (red at home, white away) , the rogue government occupying the northern provinces of Korea (white at home and away) , China (same as Korea)

Hey they didn't do too bad considering Japan only use J-League player and Corea was playing against Brazil.

Oh god, another C is for Corea guy.
Sheesh...
Anyway here is the synopsis for the Korea game that I watched via live stream off the internet. I did not get to see the whole thing clearly cuz the stream kept fading in and out, but i remember 2 goals that might not have been if the officiating had not made errors.
First Half:
Questionable call against Brazil
Korea scores off of a header that resulted from a perfectly placed free kick from Ahn Jung Hwan (YAY)
Second Half:
With the score tied 2-2 and 30 seconds left in the game, Brazil gets its best chance to win when one player has a breakaway towards the goal. He is slide tackled from behind by a Korean player in the penalty box and the ref calls it a foul. From the angle the ref saw the play I can see why he would say so, but after watching the replay it is clear that before the korean player touched the brazilian, his foot touched the ball, therefore it is a legal play. Brazil was awarded a penalty shotand they scored and that was the last play of the game. Korea had no time to come back.

hehe out of habit now. Most of my Corean Friends use the C spelling. I can use Korea and Corea pretty interchangely. Depending if I am writing an email to a friend or doing proper documents. :P
