NEW YORK -- Hip-hop disc jockey Star, half the radio duo that hosts the syndicated "Star & Buc Wild Morning Show," was fired Wednesday over racial and sexual remarks he made about a rival's wife and 4-year-old daughter.

Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, worked for Clear Channel Radio's Power 105.1 FM before losing his job when his on-air comments about DJ Envy and his family drew protests from a City Council member and other elected officials.

Clear Channel, the nation's largest radio station owner, said it found his statements "wholly unacceptable."

"As of late this afternoon, he is no longer with Power 105.1 or Clear Channel Radio," New York market manager Rob Williams said in a statement. "We sincerely apologize to those who may have been offended by his remarks."

Councilman John Liu and the rival DJ's wife, Gia Casey, appeared at City Hall on Wednesday to denounce Torain's remarks.

"He threatened to molest my little baby girl," Casey said.

In the comments, made between May 3 and Monday, Torain offered $500 to any listener who could provide information about the rival DJ's 4-year-old daughter's school and used racial slurs when talking about his wife, who is part Asian.

"I will come for your kids," Torain said, according to transcribed excerpts provided by Liu's office. "I finally got the information on his slant-eyed, whore wife."

Torain called the couple's child a "little half a lo mein eater" and said he wanted to "do an R. Kelly on your seed, on your little baby girl. I would like to tinkle on her," according to the excerpts.

The comments apparently were referring to videotapes showing a man bearing a striking resemblance to singer R. Kelly having sex with someone who appeared to be an underage girl and then urinating on her.

Casey told Liu's office she is parts Chinese, Jamaican and Scottish.

Liu, a Queens Democrat, is the first Asian Pacific American to be elected in the city, according to the City Council's Web site. He has supported many Asian causes.

Torain and his half brother, Timothy Joseph, or Buc Wild, hosted Hot 97's morning drive time show beginning in 2000 and joined Clear Channel Radio in March 2004. They began working at Power 105 in January 2005.

Torain, through his manager, Wyatt Cheek, declined to comment.

Clear Channel is a unit of Clear Channel Communications Inc.

hahaha little half lo mein eater.

i'm a huge star and buc wild fan when they were on 97.1 and then 105.1. i would listen to their show in between commericals when i was listening to howard stern before stern went to satellite.

it was funny as hell how they played classic rock such as rush on a hiphop station and made a push to form a group for affirmative action for white rappers.

i hope they make their way back to the air waves. i still listen to them from time to time when i'm not listening to stern on sirius. better yet, maybe they'll go to satellite.

Don't know what's more amazing...that some people get paid to be total assholes or that people are supposed to find that funny. And that shit wasn't planned out, it was coming from his heart. Glad to see that these idiots' tired schtick finally wore out its welcome. Good riddance.

Whatta pal. If he's a "genuine friend" then I should be grand marshal at the next APIA Heritage Day Parade. Let's see how many of his Asian "friends" stick by his ass, I heard he's getting arrested. When you see him on his "return," tell him he missed a spot in the corner and to get a better broom.

Funny you mention this. Just the other day I was down in C-town getting chashiufan for lunch-to-go and these Chinese-Am backpacker preteens were in the queue ahead of me getting theirs (ordering in cantonese). When the last one got his grub and made his way back to his friends, he said semi-loudly, "What up, nigggaaaahs, now where we gon' go?" None of 'em looked like they'd last five minutes uptown. Yet another WTF moment brought to you by the power of cross-cultural pollinization. Hey, maybe they'll be at the "Free Star" rally.

i concur. star is no howard stern the original master. what i like about star is that he's more venomous than stern. as good as stern is, his stuff is the same thing over and over again and is relatively harmless. star is pure hatred. whereas stern talks about a bitch's titties. star talks about chopping off a bitch's titties.

my favorite was actually cross over negro reese on the star and buc wild show.

All I know about the guy (Star) now is that he's an unemployed chump of a jailbird and Stern's a millionaire with no shortage of ass. Guy got canned and arrested and for what... threatening a 4 year old. Only way he could be more of a chump is if his woman leaves him and his dog bites him. Maybe if a random pigeon or two shits on him on his way to jail.

Stern may get repetitive but the guy knows what showmanship his audience won't go for and he's not stupid. He's not going to lose everything in his personal life to prove how 'edgy' he is. Plus, Stern will go after bigger prey like Bush. I remember how hard he was campaigning against Bush when the prez of Clear Channel was a hard core Republican or something.

Stern is a winner. Star is a loser. Everyone likes a winner and no one likes a loser.

All that means is that he (or someone for him) posted security. If he had to post that means he wasn't released only to a responsible party or recog'd. He still got processed. I think Gia Casey should file for some sort of order of protection. If violations stack up that guy could be in serious trouble.

I'd love to know what he was charged with. I'd guess menacing, harassment.

Case to be dismissed if the mother fucker can perform community service.

He equates himself to Lenny Bruce. Others would probably say, Chester the Molester.

In a telephone interview yesterday, Mr. Torain welcomed the decision. “This was the biggest story in regards to freedom of speech in quite some time,” he said.
...
“If you’re in the media you’d better know what happened to me,” Mr. Torain said, “or else you’ll just be another sheep sitting around, and all of a sudden one day you’ll be told that you don’t represent the demands of a certain community and then you’re out of a job.”

Charges to Be Dismissed Against D.J. Who Threatened Child (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/28/nyregion/28star.html?ref=nyregion)

By ANTHONY RAMIREZ | Published: July 28, 2006

The furor entangled two of the city’s best-known hip-hop radio disc jockeys. On the air, one threatened to sexually abuse his rival’s 4-year-old daughter, and then offered a $500 bounty to any listener who could point him to the child’s school.

The D.J. who made the threat, Troi Torain, 42, known as D.J. Star, was soon arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison.

But yesterday, prosecutors in the Manhattan district attorney’s office said the charge against Mr. Torain would be dismissed in six months if he performed three days of community service and complied with an order of protection that bans contact or communication with the child or her parents.

Barbara Thompson, a spokeswoman for the district attorney, said prosecutors took the action “because it spares the 4-year-old victim from any further attention or exposure.”

In a telephone interview yesterday, Mr. Torain welcomed the decision. “This was the biggest story in regards to freedom of speech in quite some time,” he said.

Mr. Torain made the controversial comments in May on WWPR-FM, known as Power 105, and was fired soon after. The station is owned by Clear Channel Communications of San Antonio, which, through a publicist, declined to comment yesterday.

Mr. Torain’s threats came as part of an on-air exchange of insults with his rival, Raashaun Casey, 28, who is known as D.J. Envy and works at radio station WQHT-FM, known as Hot 97. In addition to threatening Mr. Casey’s daughter with sexual abuse and offering $500 for information on where she went to school, Mr. Torain also used racial and sexual epithets to describe the child’s mother, Gia Casey, who is part Asian.

Mr. Casey did not return calls to his office yesterday seeking comment on the dismissal of the charges, and Ms. Casey could not be reached for comment.

Members of Asian-American groups, including John C. Liu, a city councilman of Chinese descent, had demanded that Mr. Torain, who is black, be punished.

Mr. Liu said yesterday that he was disappointed by the district attorney’s decision. The issue, he said, is not whether Mr. Torain “would have actually done anything to harm the child directly, but whether someone listening on the public airwaves would have somehow gotten it into their head that they were going to get a cash reward” for harming a child.

Asked in the telephone interview if he regretted his language or wanted to apologize to the parents, Mr. Torain replied: “I’m done with that line of questioning. You’ve got a decision by a court. What more are you looking for? Case dismissed means not enough evidence to go forward, or however else you want to interpret that.”

Mr. Torain compared himself to Lenny Bruce, the comedian, and others involved in free-speech cases.

“If you’re in the media you’d better know what happened to me,” Mr. Torain said, “or else you’ll just be another sheep sitting around, and all of a sudden one day you’ll be told that you don’t represent the demands of a certain community and then you’re out of a job.”

Mr. Torain said he had no plans to seek his old job at Power 105 but planned to stay in New York. “I most certainly will be back on radio, and television as well,” he said. “I’ve got a great television deal in the works.”

Fired DJ files defamation suit against NYC councilman (http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/news.aspx?id=17244)

NEW YORK — A week after a judge dismissed criminal charges against a former radio disc jockey who threatened a rival’s young daughter in sex-laced rants on the air, the DJ has filed a multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit against a politician who called him a pedophile.

DJ Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, accuses New York City Councilman John C. Liu of defaming his reputation, according to his $55 million civil lawsuit filed Aug. 2 in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

OK..........................that's just wrong.

Being a "shock jock" or saying shocking things just for the sake of saying them is lame as hell....................to me, basically what you're saying is you can't be funny just by having an ordinary morning show, so you have to do outrageous shit just to get people to listen. Of course, truly funny people can keep you cracking up even with a clean show................let alone a show where you talk about pissing on people's 4 year old baby girls.

I don't know how it goes down up there, but had somebody said some shit like that here, whoever said it would've got caught a severe ass whupping, if not killed. I mean.................I don't know what a white or asian person would do, but normally in the black community you say something crazy like that, you just might get killed. And that's just if you said it in the street, if you said it on the radio, broadcast to millions of people.................oh well that's just suicide.

You just don't do stuff like that, sorry. It's happened too many times before, where somebody gets killed just cause they said the wrong thing. This dude's crazy as hell.

Getting killed for making fun or insulting other people's families is also typical in "hip-hop".

I.e. 2pac and Biggie. Remember pac got killed not long after he put out that video claiming that he slept with Biggie's wife?

And that's just a simple "I slept with your wife" comment. This dude said he was gonna piss on the dude's kids...............that's just ridiculous.

PR Firm: Fired NYC DJ to return to air (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071127/ap_en_mu/dj_fired;_ylt=AjRdeFMqlM3v7fGdg4XLquNxFb8C)

Mon Nov 26, 7:39 PM ET

NEW YORK - A hip-hop disc jockey who was fired for making threatening racial and sexual remarks about a rival's wife and 4-year-old daughter will return to the airwaves, a public relations firm said Monday.

DJ Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, and his half-brother, Timothy Joseph, or Buc Wild, will host a morning show on a city FM station, said Bryan Pierce of 5W Public Relations. The name of the station, which was being represented by 5W, will not be disclosed before a news conference Wednesday, Pierce said.

In May 2006, Torain, who was co-host of the syndicated "Star & Buc Wild Morning Show" on Clear Channel Radio's Power 105.1 FM, offered $500 to any listener who could provide information about the rival DJ's daughter's school and used racial slurs when talking about his wife, who is part Asian. He said he wanted to sexually abuse the daughter and urinate on her.

A telephone message left for Torain's lawyer, James P. Cinque, was not immediately returned Monday. There was no listed phone number for Torain's Pennsylvania home.

A spokeswoman for Clear Channel Radio said Monday that Torain would not return to any of its stations.

Torain, who is in his early 40s, was briefly charged with child endangerment after his sex-laced rants about rival DJ Raashaun Casey's family. Prosecutors later dropped the child endangerment charge, saying they wanted to spare Casey's daughter further attention.

Torain's morning show had aired in markets including Philadelphia, Miami and Richmond, Va.
