Yes, and it was all part of this year's Visual Communications (http://www.vconline.org) VC Filmfest 2006--the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival--running from 5/4/06 through 5/11/06.
For more information on the film festival, go to http://www.vconline.org/ff06/index.html.
Come out and celebrate API and APIA film and filmmakers and support a great organization.
VC FILMFEST
The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival was established in 1983 as a vehicle to promote Asian Pacific American and Asian international cinema. As the major U.S. showcase for ethnic-based media, the Festival fulfills a unique and valuable mission in illuminating the visions and voices of Asian Pacific peoples and heritage. The Festival is a production of Visual Communications, the nation’s premier media arts organization dedicated to creating, preserving and presenting Asian Pacific American history and culture through the media arts. Visual Communications has pioneered many vital developments in the national media arts arena. The non-profit organization holds a 35-year track record of producing and preserving award-winning film, video and multimedia works; plays a leading role in arts and telecommunications public policy issues; and promotes media literacy and access through training workshops and seminars in traditional and new media technologies.
I'm going to try to make it out to the festival closing night celebration (5/11 at the Aratani/Japan America Theater) where they'll be screening AMERICANese.

i still recommend watching this movie. it was one of the best asian-am film i've seen, but it's getting so little publicity. it's making its way through theaters around the country - and it's already left california after being in theaters here for the past 5 mos. i think it's still showing at one theater in san jose and that's it.
this movie is so very worth driving to a different city to watch if you have to.
are arex and i the only two who have caught it?

this is definitely a movie worth seeing. There's kind of Asian American film renaissence of sorts going right now with the amount of independent films being shot and submitted to festival, and deserve to be seen. Look websites for San Francisco Asian American International Film Festival and San Diego Asian Film Festival for info on these films and when they're playing in a city near you.
It looks like that it's a great movie, maybe I should go and get it to watch

That's awesome. I didn't get a chance to see it because it wasn't out in my location, but I've heard good reviews on it. Now I can get a chance to check it out.
