When presented the award Malkin was rendered nearly speechless, being overwhelmed with emotion for a time. She gave much of the credit for her work to her husband Jesse Malkin, who stood out in the crowd as one of the few men in attendance. A stay-at-home mother of two, she said she could never do all she does without his constant support.

Michelle Malkin: 2006 Woman of the Year (http://www.humaneventsonline.com/blog-detail.php?id=12387)

The Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, a women's organization dedicated to preparing young women to be effective leaders in the conservative moment, honored regular HUMAN EVENTS contributor Michelle Malkin by awarding her its 2006 Woman of the Year Award for 2006. Malkin was presented the award by the organization's president, Michelle Easton, at a luncheon held Saturday during CPAC 2006.

Malkin has a syndicated column that appears in nearly 200 newspapers nationwide and has written three books published by Regnery, a HUMAN EVENTS sister company, all of which have made the New York Times Best Sellers' List. In her most recent book, “Unhinged: Exposing Liberals Gone Wild,” Malkin showcases the offensive attacks liberals have made over the years on her and the entire conservative movement. In recent weeks, Malkin has been placed in national spotlight for her thorough and courageous coverage on her popular conservative blog (MichelleMalkin.com) of the Islamic cartoon rage in Europe, which included the printing of Mohammadan cartoons in defense of free speech.

Malkin used the mentoring lunch as an opportunity to speak to young women in the audience about a personal character-building experience that prepared her to be the woman she is today. She talked of a childhood hero and of her heroes today. She said the conservative women she admires most are "bold, graceful and humble." They "speak with force, as well as clarity,” she said, and "maintain ferocity and femininity at the same time."

Following her remarks, Malkin took questions from the audience about everything from how to deal with liberal physics professors to how she balances being a mother and journalist. To young women being discriminated for their beliefs, Malkin said: "Stand firm in what you believe and seek like-minded folks…"

Some would suggest that she should thank her husband, Jesse, in helping her write her stuff:

...
But she is a journalist, and here's my beef: if you are representing yourself as a journalist, all your writing should be your own. If Jesse is jumping on the blog under your name, and posting conservative crap about the Middle East and how all Muslims are evil people, or something about the French, that destroys your credibility with your readers and should endanger any realationship you have with newspapers and other publications. Mike Royko wrote all his own stuff, and you should do the same, and not be some Milli Vannili of the blogging world.

We're not stupid -- we can figure out that if you're posting at all hours, it's not just only you, so the posts should be properly attributed. That's responsible journalism as a member of the media.

What I would like to see is Jesse set up his own blog, present his own writings, and see what kind of traffic it would get. My guess would be not much (Jesse, prove me wrong), and also the result would be less posts by Michelle, and hopefully less blog crap like today's thread of more words by other people, and a few snide remarks.

OH good, i checked out the homepage, a strongly right wing site, of course they would make her woman of the year, good thing this isn't a mainstream thing, i was scared for a second there.

Not that surprising that she's named "Woman of the Year" by a right wing publication.

Wait...considering that 2006 is barely two months old, isn't this tribute a wee bit premature? Unless their crystal ball is on some T3/fiber optic line shit or something...

i've never heard of this Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute. but seriously, how respected is she in conservative circles? no matter her views, what she writes in her column is complete hack job stuff. the smarter conservatives must know that she gets recognised because basically she's a minority woman that writes about how "ludicrous" liberals are, and not so much writes on conservative views.

Silence, you moonbats.

I'm still laughing my ass off at her using that term. I suppose all the whippersnappers and carpetbaggers didn't piss her off enough.

Silence, you moonbats.

Because republican hack jobs can't be complete without the obligatory "WTF?" line.

2006 woman I'd like to run over of the year.

And then perhaps 2007 woman I'd like to reverse my car back over of the year as well.

Poor thing. Got her web site hacked, recently. So much for being Woman of the Year.

Michelle Malkin Hit By Jyhadi Cyberhackers (http://www.securitypronews.com/news/securitynews/spn-45-20060224MichelleMalkinHitByJyhadiCyberhackers.html )
Political columnist and blogger Michelle Malkin was the victim of denial of service (DoS) attack on Thursday after Turkish hackers knocked her site down. While the blog is back up and running, the problem of cyber attacks is still there.

Happened to hear Malkin on the radio the other day. It was a replay of a Q & A at a talk she gave at her alma mater, Oberlin. (Not sure of the date of the event.) As you might expect, a number of questioners were challenging her.

It was interesting to hear some of the questioners identify themselves as Asian american or Filipino.

Her response to the last question, I thought, was revealing. A woman asked how the gap between left and right might be bridged. Malkin thought for a moment and answered that it was through the effort of the ____ Foundation (can't remember the name), that she was able to speak at Oberlin. I think it must've been one of those conservative (radical?) foundations that their opponents view with great alarm (i.e., right-wing conspiracy).

Malkin is another person whose death I would celebrate by popping the cork on some champagne.
