it's an all you can eat sushi/seafood restaurant. after the first time i went there, i figured that all my asian friends would know about it, but when i asked them, they had no idea... so, ever been to/heard of one?

TODAI. i went to one in orange, in southern cali, on christmas day in 2000. i hated it. first of all, i wasn't hungry for whatever reason. second, an obese black family was seated at a table behind us, so i could see them pretty clearly from my diagonal view.. were sitting at the table eating like PIGS. really. no joke. their bellies were hitting the edge of the table, and their plates were piled with loads and loads of food. the floor around their table had rice scattered all over it. watching them eat lobster for just a few minutes disgusted me. made me think: "teach your damn kids some fucking manners." it was really sickening. needless to say, i did not eat a thing there. i'm not a big fan of buffet places because of this incident.

Todai is like the Sizzler (or McDonald's) of sushi. You don't know why, but sometimes you just go and find yourslef there.

If you want real sushi, you should go to a local Japanese restaurant or something.

Todai, back in the day, used to be pretty good actually. Sure, it's always been a buffet, but like 10 years ago I think sushi was a lot more expensive and it wasn't as mainstream as it is now. Places like Sushi Boy didn't exist.

I do remember the last time I went to Todai and I thought it was pretty cheesy. I think they replaced most of the Japanese sushi chefs with Mexican ones.

Then again, I'm basically no-maintenance when it comes to food...as long as it's dead and it gets in my mouth.

buffets are gross period. The ones here should the pay by the minute plans that buffets in other parts of the world have.

I heard the worst restaurant rendition of Happy Birthday a couple days ago... I was at the Loft, a local Hawaiian restaurant, and the place was half full and out of the, maybe, six servers that were there only 2 started singing. Once the singing started the restaurant kinda got quiet and turned to see who's b-day it was. Then under that scrutiny the 2 servers just trails off. It was soooo bad it was good. :D

I used to be a waiter in college, and lemme tell ya, we [i:e757f08ddf]hated [/i:e757f08ddf]singing that crap. It's practically demeaning or something, you feel like a little performing monkey. Immediately after the song was over all the waiters would always run off in different directions, anything to get away from the lava of cheese.

happy happy birthday from all of us to you...

i think the todai waiters are the funniest cause you don't know exactly what language they're speaking...

Damn. Wish I had seen this thread before. I do exactly what will does and go for crab only. Plus the owners of the Todai I go to are Taiwanese, so we get a discount.
