I know there are a lot of motivated, angry, or otherwise driven people in this world who need a 'cause' to fight for.

Before you spend your time preserving rainforests, protecting dolphins from tuna boats, or raising money to send urban kids to summer camp,.....

Please take a look at one of the most henious crimes happening around us today.

If you want a cause to fight for, stop the human slave trade of our women. Drugged, raped and made a commodity... we must raise our voice against it.

I live in Atlanta, not 2 weeks ago a house was seized where 4 girls from Brazil were promised American jobs... and once brought here, were forced into prostitution.

How do you stop it? Crimminal organizations do this and they do their best to go under the radar. It's not like people are allowing this.

That is the key question. I'd been trying to contact the Polaris Project and others about how I can get involved, what I can do to help. I've received zero replies kid.

My best guess is that people in major cities and areas that this is prevelent (Southern Cal, etc...) find out where the brothels are, and report them to the FBI. And not stop raising attention to the brothels until our politicians act on them.

What pisses me off is that the negative effect of SUV gas consumption gets press coverage all day, every day... when human slavery in the US gets almost no attention. Its all backwards.

Corruption is everywhere my friend. There are well known brothels everywhere and they all gang watched or protected by some authority.

Or else there will be no way for these places could exist on the long run.

The common person cannot do anything to stop this, only the FBI and other international organization like Interpol could. We just gotta write letters to our senators to increase awareness of the issue.

I wouldn't recommend trying any direct action yourself, because that can land you at the mercy of underworld gangsters.

You never know if the authority your talking to is a corrupt offical or not. Whorehouses will always exist, even if you shut down one, another one will appear.

You raised a good point.

Human trafficking is a significant problem indeed. I am glad authorities in several countries are beginning to prosecute traffickers. However, as long as a market exists, there will be illicit entrepreneurs exploiting the opportunities and victims.

According to their website there are volunteering and employment opportunities. Have you considered those?

Also, their fellowship program seems to be an excellent starting point.

I don't know your background, but another thing you could do is to study the issue in an academic setting and pursue an advance degree. Expert testimonies in front of the congress typically cause some legislative action to take place.

Direct action and intervention is very difficult on the individual level, large scale policy and legislative changes typically happen through advocacy groups. So by investing your effort and time in one of those groups, you are very much working to bring changes.

Good luck.
