Got to give it to O'Reilly for being that patient.

Did anyone actually watch this?

From what I saw, Letterman pretty much got his ass handed to him by what he said. I hate both the men but Letterman started losing credibility when he admitted that he doesn't watch O'Reilly's show to attack his points. Another point I need to make was that, contrary to what most people are saying, O'Reilly was not ambushed and caught offguard with Letterman's attacks.

O'Reilly went on that show with a plan to drudge up controversial political topics in the opening conversation.

Letterman: "So, Bill, how were your holidays?"

O'Reilly: "Very nice. I had a wonderful winter solstice. You?"

60% of what you say is crap. Classic.
Even if Letterman really had nothing substantial to say against O'Reilly.

From what I witnessed, Letterman just abused O'Reilly verbally but O'Reilly came out the winner just by not looking like an idiot.

It was still Letterman's game, though. O' Reilly may have made his points, but the audience was never behind him.

Nah, the only thing letterman had going for him was home court advantage. O'Reilly actually seemed more sensible than him.

The question is.... if both were handed melee weapons... and engaged in a gladitor style fight... who would come out on top?

haha it's weird how people can see things in their own light. From my view, O'Reilly is the one that looked like a super serious, fact finding fool.

I mean, come on, War on Christmas? I don't why anyone would assume there are people out to eliminate Christmas. Christian or not, most people love the holidays and this "Happy Holiday" stuff is just about respecting other people celebrations. Say whatever you want. Happy Hanukah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas. Who cares?

IMHO, Letterman made better points than O'Reilly on the show. Namely:

- Why are we in Iraq in the first place?
- (When referring to O'Reilly's school examples on holidays) Why make a huge fuss over these isolated instances?

Letterman just comes off better intuition-wise, even if O'Reilly did have those facts to back it up. Seriously, why sweat the small stuff?

**EDIT**
Dunno if the OP's link still works, but here's another link to O'Reilly vs. Letterman.

You're just saying that you agree with Letterman over O'Reilly.
Letterman lost when he admited that he only knows what people have written about O'Reilly and resorted to ad hominem attacks.

Letterman is a comedian. He says things that are tongue-in-cheek. What he says are prob never 100% true and never 100% false.

And come on... if I "admitted" that I never watch the OFactor show, what does that mean? That I have NEVER EVER seen it? That I watch it on occasion? That I've watch it on the internet for those purely rare reasons such as War on Christmas? Language is so vague and if you've ever studied communications, the words that someone uses doesn't even account for half of what someone intends to communicate. There's tone, body language, context, etc. etc..

And in response to what you felt as "ad hominem attacks", Letterman was prob more direct than usual. But in all honesty, sometimes you have to do that with ppl. Just look at Bush: how long has it taken him to finally admit that there were errors in intelligence? Five, six years? That's a joke. Some people can be so deluded that sometimes you have to attack them before they ever realize there is a general public that disagrees with their individual thoughts.

And yes, you are exactly right. All I'm saying is that I agree with Letterman. To be honest, I don't really care who won that argument on that show.

You can't say someone is full of shit if you admit you don't know what he said.
