View Full Version : Ja-Afrikan lady
I made this for my big sis.
She is african & japanese so I made the woman in the image reflect that (as well as the hiragana in the cartush)
http://www.darkervisions.com/betaz/yukiko_large2.jpg
The fictional character portraied in the image is the daughter of a wedding between Afrikan & Japanese royal houses
I got the base image from a coloring book of Japanese paintings.
Then scanned it, brought it into photoshop and using the (multiply) layer option in photoshop colored in the parts just like i would have with markers or coloring pencles.
Except i didnt have to worry about coloring outside the lines since the color didnt show up on anyhting but the white of the background.
The texture of her robe was added with a pattern overlay layer style, and the variation of tones in her face was done by using a heavily blurred & washed out photo of Yuki's actual face on the layer behind the color layer.
The original photoshop document is print quality and each diffrent element has it's own layer (robes, skin, hair ect...).
and weighs in at around 33megs.
Sure sure :)
Go right ahead.

It's beautiful. I would love to have your premission to copy it and frame it. It's so nice. Did you go to school for this? This is what I want to learn to do. I really mean it, it's nice.
I've been looking for a picture of a dragon (without wings) in gold. But haven't been able to find anything. It's for the cover of a book that I have written (not yet published. Too shy). Would you could you do one for me. And if by chance I do publish you will get credit and paid.
Yeah I am getting my AA degree from community college for digitsal art or motion graphics :nerd:
I didnt draw the woman in this one i just colored her in photoshop.
Yes you may print and frame her if you wish.
This one is compressed for the internet.
I have a better quality version that i can upload tho if you want it to be really nice.
I printed it on photopaper and was suprised by the results.
Let me know and i will upload it. (it is over a megabite)
I have been trying to make a dragon for a while now, but i am not having such a good go at it.
If it turns out any better i will post it here and let you use it.
What is your book about?
Dont be shy

Thank you so much, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send it to me. I have been seriously thinking about going into computor graphic. I'm from the old school when graphic had nothing to do with computors. However, that was years ago, but I still have a love for the arts and have wanted to learn. You make it sound so simple, I guess if I could teach myself to use the computor, I can teach myself to learn photosuit and other software. So tell me what's good for a beginner to learn. Until then, thank you again.

Can you make another picture of her in African clothes?
(Preferably ones that are topless) (J/K)
But seriously, I think it would be very interesting to see her in ethnic african clothing.

Is that your sister in a picture with you on blackplanet? If so, she's cute. I can see you putting her into any ethnic outfit and looking good. You two look like very down to earth people.
Heya.
BeTheReds:
The original image was from a japanese coloring book, I didnt draw her.
I've been working on a kente pattern for the outer kimono tho whenever i finish it i will show it off here.

Yup that is my big sis.
She is downer to earth than i am :D
