Korean BBQ is one of the best things to ever exist second only to kung fu movies. God bless Korean BBQ, and any other BBQ for that matter. Where would we be without all that char-broiled marinated heaven....mmmmmmmm

haha

I like practically anything Korean.

But my favorites are Samgyupsal, dwaenjangjigae, taegutang, ddukmandoguk, and yukkaejang.

if you've ever eaten at a korean BBQ place where you cook the food yourself, you may or may not have noticed if the fire was gas or charcoal. can you taste the difference? i know the charcoal grill adds flavor and makes the meat taste more authentic and BBQ-ish. =)

there was an episode on Frasier in which Niles complains about having to spend so much money on dry cleaning his expensive suit after eating Korean BBQ.

my doggies go crazy when I come home from a korean restaurant where they BBQ.

See, all the Korean drycleaners are in league with the Kalbijip (BBQ Restaurants). It's a conspiracy.

I had Korean BBQ when I was young, but that was a long time ago, I think I'll have to revisit one just to see what all the talks about. Hmmm, any recomendations for the NY metro area?

Try Kang Suh on 32nd and Broadway in Korean Town.

They're known for bulgogi and kalbi.

Heh what Tapestrybabe said.

There's another big one on Nothern Blvd in Flushing, Queens with the pond and the eating area outside. Forogt the name it's pretty good, too.

HAHAHA. never thought about it that way.
but it makes sense.

if you go to 32nd st in koreatown.. there's a couple.
but... there's this korean bbq buffet in flushing on northern blvd.

they don't bring out the ribs often because.. obviously, it's expensive.
and when they do people run to it like they haven't eaten in months.
it's sad, really.

i hate buffets..

haha. but umm...maybe you'll like it.

there's a little korean restaurant in TST. it's small but it has 2 floors. it's been there for 20 or 30 years or something and it's ran by korean people. it's great. forgot what street it's on though.

Korean... mmm! The first time I had Korean was near Ft Benning GA, Since then i've been hooked. I used to get trays of kimbob to take home with me. Beef bulgogi and yakimandu! there's a Korean resturant near here w/ an attractive Korean gal (who also works at the PX) who don't want anything to do with me  too many bad experiences with Viet guys she said  but I still plan to eat there w/ my boss. But it's a bit expensive when compared to chinese or italian.

I let my friend, who happens to be Korean, crash at my house one night when he was hammered. I had another friend drive him to my house and my roomate let him in (I was working). So in gratitude he offered to take us out to dinner. I respectfully declined, then remembered this post! So it was like 'nah, you don't have to do that, it's my pleasu....wait, korean bbq!' Luckily he insists he knows some great places. I'll let you know the results.

Woo-hoo!! K-BBQ here I come!

I'm getting hungry reading these posts. I love Korean food, it's my favorite kind. Let's see, duk bok gi, kalbi, bibimguksoo, mandu, kimcheechigae, and soondugu are among my faves. In college, my friend and I once drove to a Korean restaurant 45 minutes away just cause we were craving good Korean food. I'm trying to learn how to cook so I can make these dishes myself (and I hate cooking).

My brother went to this 24/7 Korean BBQ place in Northern Virginia named Yechon...dunno if its any good, but who has Korean BBQ cravings at 4 AM and would actually venture out to get some?

Apparantly enough people that there is a restaurant for those people.

My very first visit to a Korean BBQ was cool but it was also before I ever started studying or learning the Korean language so my friend conveniently forgot to tell me that the sign that read 'Korean BBQ' out front was, um... in Korean. So needless to say I was looking for this big ass red sign but I kept driving past it. Due to my refusal to call up my buddy (and therefore admit that I was actually lost), I did not get there until like an hour after the designated meeting time.. Oh well Asian standard time goes well with me

I love how in nyc, the korean bbq places comes with a ton of side dishes. If you go as a couple and just order one dish, the side dishes that come with are more than enough to fill you both up!

It was across the street from the Kaiser hospital. There's 2 locations about a block apart. Go to the higher numbered one.

Also, there's quite a few Korean places in Koreatown SF (which is within/beside J-town) around Fillmore and Geary.

I went to this place in SJ on umm...shoot, I forgot...it was named Korean Palace I think.

There's a little Korean area in downtown Oakland sort of near Broadway and Telegraph I think.

my first experience with korean food was last month. i had no idea what to do or what to order. can anyone tell me what to order. phonetic and description so i'm not a boob. also some etiquette would be nice too. i think i may have offended some people there with my asian looks and european mannerisms, also so i'm no taking things the wrong way from korean mannerisms. i found the place to be quite unfriendly and the food a little getting use to.
