To my knowledge, the only mixed people on this forum to have pics or avatar pics are me, digiaks and malidito. Then we got this lower jaw thing going on for Eric and Eugene.
Man, I'm the only hapa chick with a pic avatar. Maybe I'm just vain. ;)

What? You don't like my scowl?
Okay, I can change it. You'll have to wait until next week, though, when I get back home.

that easily beats out the percentage of non-mixed people using their faces as pics :P besides if you really wanted to see an old picture of me, try here (http://home.graffiti.net/elb/ericmay.jpg) (I'm on the left).

Oh wow, you look much differently that I imagined. For some reason I thought you would have been smaller with longer hair. Were you doing a duet?
How tall are you if you don't mind me asking?

so basically, you imagined i was a short, skinny nerd instead of a taller one. :P well, these days I'm growing my hair out anyway.
i'm 6'0 but since i stopped the rigorous lifting routine that got imposed on me in high school for sports, i pretty much went back to being skinny. and yeah, that was a duet ... william so's "yue wen yue shang xin" ... from a while back (came out ... I think towards the beginning of my senior year of high school? so four years ago, about) but still popular.

hapas tend to be taller then the avg asian, yet i have had people assume that I am smaller also (im 5'11"). whats with the stereotypes.
im not sure what makes some post pics and some not. for me it is all in my mood at the time.

I guess I just imagined that you were about my height. Not towering over me by a good half foot.

Actually it was the partial pic he posted. I got the ratio of his body size wrong. But feel free to jump to more conclusions. :P

OK Hello_Hapa, your thread has pressured me into posting an avatar pic. My hair is in 'Elvis Mode' right now 'cause I'm too cheap to get a haircut, but now you all can see my beautiful mug...

Just call me The Regulator. Really, sorry if I'm putting anyone on the spot. The last thing I want to do is force someone to do something they're not comfortable with.

Dang, with all these people changing avatars, it's hard to keep track of who is who.
We could have a Yelloworld get together and never know who the person really is without a avatar badge.
I'll be looking for a giant m&m and a lady attatched to her husband.

I agree. Not what I imagined. And people would say that I look like Marc Anthony (the forehead of course). *L* I think he looks more like Marc A. than I do.

Not in my family. But then again I KNOW diet has alot to do with it, more specifically AMERICAN diet. Not sure how it is for people who are mixed in other countries.
I'm the exception of course, I'm only 5'4". My brothers are from 5'11" on up. So are many of my cousins. My half chinese nicaraguan friend's brother is slightly taller than I am and BOTH of theri parents (chinese and nicaraguan) are shorter than I am. But my friend is 6 ft. tall. Very tall.

Hello Hapa, maybe you should pin something about the meaning and origin of the word "hapa" at the top of the club. That way, you won't have to keep repeating the info.
Juzz a suggestion... B)

I'm copying & pasting what I said before in another thread which is pinned.
Original term back in Hawaii was hapa haole, referring to a half caste person. Hapa of course is the Hawaiianized word for "half". There were other "hapas" in Hawai'i. You were either Hapa haole, or hapa something else...and usually they were meant for a part Hawaiian person. In the Hawaiian language the word "hapa" is not only used to designate "half" but also part, which is how everyone uses it today.
Although since many significant Hawaiians were hapa haole, it is they who usually get called a hapa, but more specifically hapa haole. Of course the term was carried over to the western part of the U.S. Initially in Hawai'i, to get an Asian-Caucasian person, they more than likely had Hawaiian blood too, which was my grandmother. I say that b/c as far as immigration was back in the 1800s, the distribution between males and females were very lopsided (sp?). Basically you had lots of Chinese men and Caucasian men, so to have a Chinese-Caucasian person back in the 1800s was unheard of. For part Hawaiians you were either half Chinese or half Caucasian.
Also, anything of the "western" culture that has become "Hawaiianized" is referred to as Hapa Haole too.

This is my "real" picture. I take "really" bad pictures. I always look like a deer with headlights blinding me. Or someone feels they need to take my picture with food surrounding me.
