I searched for a thread on this, but there was none...

I watched this movie, and I loved it! I think all the child actors have grown up, and they really put a lot of emotions into this one. The movie was sooooo long, but it was great. The ending was really sad too. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who wants to watch the movie.

Anyone else seen it?

I'd like Giblets of Fire.

For anyone willing to round up the various Harry Potter threads and link them for merging I'll gladly give karma.

There was more than one goblet? I did not know this. Cho had quite the scottish brogue, didn't she? Even more so than that little bastard Seamus.

I thought Voldemort's resurrection was HOT shit, and Ralph Fiennes was AWESOME as the V man, very twisted and perverted.

I really want to see this, but I'm thinking of doing a marathon night (curtesy of Netflix) of the first 3 movies before seeing the newest one. Looks like a great movie, and is it me, or is Hermione growing up to be some hottie?

i thought the movie was good but not great. i haven't read the book, but i'm betting it's pretty faithful b/c it seemed like the movie was forcing itself to move from one plotpoint to another w/ no time to pause and reflect on what had happened. not until the end when hermione weakly says that everything will be different from now on.

but it kept my attention for 2.5 hrs anyways so i can't say it wasn't entertaining. and cho... she's more attractive in the movie than in the pics we've seen of her previously. i didn't really know about the indian girls before, but they were pretty cute too.

btw, don't u guys think that voldemort was pretty impressive w/ that missing nose? i couldn't stop thinking how weird it was even tho it's prolly a cheap trick.

Got just back, really enjoyed. It was pretty cute watching Harry's attempt at asking Cho out and then later realising the Indian girls liked him. I overheard an Asian girl in the audience comment, "Harry like Asians." Giggle, giggle, giggle.

saw the bootleg. I'm not really a fan of the potter books, and to me they're kiddie versions of lord of the rings. i prefer tolkien legend to rowling's fairy tale.

please tell me that's just bad fan fiction and not a re-enactment

Harry attempted to look disinterested but his erect penis said otherwise. Malfoy smirked, "I bet ol' Horny Potter's got sumin' to say to me" Harry blushed. The onrush of passion was irresistable. They had sex.

You can't compare the two. As you said, the Lord of the Rings tales are much more like a legend, and has the mythic qualities that some prefer to the more contemporary and personal stories of Harry Potter.

It's ironic how the two female characters who were supposed to be incredibly beautiful (Cho and Fleur) were average at best in the film, while the Plain Jane of the lot, Hermione, was anything but.

When that chick at the end kissed him goodbye he didn't even seem to care. Those Indian chicks got the short end of the stick too, treated like last resorts and didn't get asked to dance. Bollywood time I say!

I saw the movie yesterday with my girlfriend. I liked the movie. It went by pretty fast even though it was a long one. Here are thoughts that ran thru my head while watching:

- I find a bit weird that Ron had a man-crush on Victor and somewhat awkward with his fight w/ Harry early on in the movie when I was told before that Ron and Hermione would hook up in latter books.

- I don't know why Victor picked Hermione. There were hotter chics there. What was said in the book that was left out in the movie?

- I don't think the Patel sisters were all that although I think the one who went to the ball with Harry was sorta cute. I also thought that Harry would take BOTH to the ball instead of the double date with the sisters and Ron.

- Why did the French wizard champion become enamored with Ron? What the heck that he did?

- How did the Victor balance his wizard schoolwork with his national team responsibility? This is like being a class valedictorian and a starting point guard of the US basketball team.

- Why did Cho and the Patel sisters wear their traditional dresses when they seem to be so assimilated with the young British pop culture?

- I wanted Harry to go postal when he saw Cho and Cedric together at the Ball, like punch him or something.

- Also, which house at the school took the prize this time? It seems like in every story Harry's house would take it.

I know it is just a movie but those thoughts ran thru my head while I was watching the movie. I kinda shared some of them with my gf but she just looked at me funny in response.

- ron's obssesed with krum like people were obssesed with shaq, mj, or kobe, just simple idolization.

- nothing is ever said about why exactly viktor chose hermione. interestingly enough, in the book it's said that viktor was nervous about approaching hermione (in the library, natch)

- the issue was that both harry and ron couldn't find a date. in the book, harry alone asks pavarti to the ball (them both being gryffyndors, harry found it to be not so tension-inducing). after she says yes, harry then asks help in finding ron a date to the ball. after a few suggestions (lavender, who seems to have been cut from the movies; hermione already has a date), she then weakly suggests her sister, who is in a different house.

- fleur wasn't really enamoured with ron so much as extremely grateful because (apparently) she - like harry - took the "if you don't come back in an hour, you lose your most precious thing permanently" seriously; in her case, it was her sister. she believed harry rescued her; in the confusion of it all, in the book she believed ron helped too. add that to the fact that she might have felt a little guilty about rejecting ron so harshly when he asked her to the yule ball...well, there you are.

- victor was very very favored by karkarov the headmaster in the book. he probably had a huge part in victor's education.

- no idea about the traditional garb. in the book, they're all wearing dress robes. i guess the director wanted to emphasize their "foreigness"

- cho has a very reduced part relative to the book. if he went postal in the book it would have been quite logical, as people keep comparing cedric to harry, saying how much better cedric is. as the movie is though, cho is more like that nice girl you see in class you have a crush on and who you think might like hanging out with you, but she's going out with a senior .

- no house took the prize because there was no house cup; it was implicitly (explicitly in the book) cancelled to hold the triwizard cup.

how come spoiler tags still show the emoticons?

for instance, telling cho while they're on their valentine's day date that he needs to see hermione later... smooth, real smooth

ended up seeing this movie...
while i never ended up getting
into the whole harry potter craze...
never reading the book, nor watching the
previous harry potter movies...
watching this was pretty entertaining...

altho it was kinda difficult for me
to follow the whole story line tho...

still not too sure why the whole...
"game, tournament' thing took place still...
i guess i would have understood better...
if i watched the previous movies...

actually, it wouldn't have helped you at all. first they're trying to make each movie stand on its own. second, they just had to cut too much stuff from the books to fit it into a movie. all action, no plot. they're depending on the harry potter fans to carry them in to profitability

ginny, who apparantly turns into a real hottie in later books, is sort of plain in the movies

i finally watched this movie yesterday. i'm a huge fan of harry potter and have read all the books. i was tearing up at that one scene where hermione yells at ron for not asking her to the ball, but i didn't actually cry. my bf looked over and started teasing me about it and i was trying to play it off. sshhh...don't tell hehe

loved it. made me remember how great imagination can be.

How old was that Russian guy supposed to be. I find it disturbing that he had the hots for Hermione.

Ron better act quicker next time.

Which character was Gary Oldman's?

lethal
03-12-2006, 09:14 AM
Viktor Krum was a last year stdent in his school too, so he was 1 or 2 years older than Hermione.

Gary Oldman was Sirius Black. In the movie, the only time we saw him was when he was talking to Harry in the fireplace.

Okay, he was fire guy. Didn't catch that in the credits, because I was trying to figure-out who Ralph was playing.

As movies go, I suppose Lord V. could have killed HP up on that statue, too.

If this was supposed to be the big movie with the Cho Chang character, it was, for that part, uneventful.

i'm going to sound like such a nerd but....
what fun would it have been for voldemort to kill harry while he was hanging from the skeleton? he has waited YEARS to resume his previous shape/form, each time being foiled by harry and co.
taking the time to torture/match wits with the boy wizard....voldemort wanted to make sure his waiting wasn't in vain.

Faithless
03-12-2006, 04:16 PM
Because, , if Lord V. is any smart villain, he would have learned from the mistakes of many other movie villains that if you give the hero a break, the hero generally comes back to kill you.

And so, look what happened. He tells HP to touch swords and the ghosts of the dead come flying out of the ass of that skeleton statue to save HP. And then Lord V. gets all pissed. Worthless.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Anikan Skywalker came back as Malfoy what's-his-face?

Just saw it. Loooong. Continuity anyone? I've not read the books and I could not make freakin' sense of the movie. The other movies made sense, this one I got the impression they were touching on the highlights of the book...forcefully at that. With Harry bogarting all the good karma, do you need other characters?
