Just some personal observations.
The movie was cool and dumb at the same time.
Hated some of the cliches.
Felt like I was watching a Top Gun.
And, I guess, Thai chicks are easy, according to the movie. :frown: Shit, they'll sit with you, not understanding a word your American friends are saying, then take you home across the country side to boot.
Oh, and, so much for North Koreans with mohawks.

I don't know if you can necessarily deduce that Thai women will walk with any Yank that comes up to them, but the one in the movie did, when the Jamie Foxx character came up to her with some lame line.
And, I'm not sure, but I wonder if he was mocking some fake Asian words at her. That's wrong, if so.
I know she's a different ethnicity, but it felt like an extention of the Singapore Girl fantasy. Take a plane to see her. Walk with her to her place.
In the movie, this Thai woman is sitting with the three Navy pilots, and just smiling, and being quiet, while the pilots carryon their bravado.

well it's not that far from the truth from what i hear from family and friends that's in the military or did time in the military.
my closest friend joined the navy after dental school and did a ship tour. he said when he docked in okinawa there were women waiting at the port. when he went to the bars with his friends, there was always a group of women just sitting quietly and smiling every now and then with them while they jibber away in english.

That's everywhere, though. It's not only the province of military bases in Asia. The same thing exists in Europe and here, but I guess they're just not "exotic" enough for the movies.
I wanna check this joint out since I missed it on the big screen this summer. I had heard that this movie might've slammed better if it hadn't been so cliché-ridden or it had been released 10 years earlier. That's what you get from Rob Cohen at the helm, though.

i've asked them about europe and they said europe is more discreet in a way with the exception being amsterdam.

The Amsterdam yellow pages had Chamber of Commerce recommended hustlers. Or maybe the place was just a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Don't remember.

Check it out, and let's compare cliches.
Then there's this: (I'll wait until you all see it, but) There is this part where the Jamie Foxx character tells the other dude about not messing up the lady pilot's career because she's being groomed by the Navy to be this poster child of sorts. Of course that doesn't come through in the film, but hey. So, what does she do ... ?

Anyone associated with this movie should be destroyed.
So I guess this film definitely does not get the Banana Seal of Approval.
