The premise of the show is you get a bunch of B list celebs and see if they can also sing.

Bai Ling was up there singing "Like a Virgin" :eek:

i cringe looking at her because she can't seem to keep herself at least halfway clothed and let's not even talk about her makeup. she's an embarrassment to chinese people, ugh.

i saw clips of all the performances cuz i surfed by the last 5 minutes of the show. ifrom what i saw, i liked morgan fairchild and the black guy at the end (don't remember his name). bai ling was awful.

but another show for some D-list "celebrities"? this is getting old.

I had to watch because I've had a crush on Morgan Fairchild for most of my life. I thought she acquitted herself relatively well.

Bai Ling was a disaster on stage. Horrific singing and, no, the accent doesn't help. Worst of all, for her, is that she couldn't even pull off the sexy performance angle off. She looked like a drunken hag rolling around on the floor in the worst prom dress ever.

But she wasn't alone. Most of the performances answered the titulary question with a resounding "No".

well, she did win a Golden Horse for best actress in Dumplings (the full-length feature). and i have to admit she was very good in acting Chinese ghetto. picking her toes and all that.

but the Chinese entertainment industry just thinks she's a slut anyway and doesn't take her too seriously.

I bet the "old" bai ling will look like one of those real estate selling chinese ladies with the bad mottled skin, tacky designer clothing, ugly fingernails and makeup toting along her aging close to heart failure western husband. She'll probably have the requisite chopstick in the hair or asian kitsch jewelry to milk every last bit out of her stereotypical image.

Her voice will grate on everyone's nerves because her lungs have been damaged by years of smoking and alcohol abuse from when she was an "item" in the scene.

I saw the show last night. The whole show was a train wreck or at least the 10 mins that I saw. I saw Antonio Sabato Jr. singing then Bai Ling. Well, they can't sing. My aunts and uncles can out-sing them at our Karaoke party. But, the thought of see my uncles winking and gyrating, and my aunties crawling on the floor is just too horrendous.

I watched her on that VH-1 Show and although she is terrible with regular music, I think she did a great job singing punk rock music of the Ramones. Punk Rock is actually more screaming than it is singing so I think she could thrive in that arena. Not to mention she dresses perfectly for Punk Rock. Very tasteful for Punk Rock.

I heard even Yoko Ono feels threatened by Bai Ling's singing ability..............:biggrin:
