Wow there are so many newbies now. So I'm going to re-intro myself.
Hi, I'm a mod for the Rant forum and the Current Events forum. I'm an Overseas Chinese/Chinese American. I was born in HK and my family moved to the states when I was 11. For those of you who knows where these places are, my father's side of the family is from Sunwui and my mother's side of the family is from Toisan (both are in Guangdong province). I recently spent 2 years back in HK working. I am fluent in Cantonese and I know some basic Mandarin.
I am 26 years old and I've recently relocated to the Washington DC area. I'm a programmer and I'm currently working as a consultant with IBM and Lockheed Martin on a project for US Customs.
My screen name "Sun Wu Kung" is taken from a Chinese classic Journey To The West. In this epic, there is a character that is a king of monkeys that has supernatural powers. His name is "Sun Wu Kung".

Well, if you're gonna re-introduce yourself, we may as well all do that...in your thread.
muhahahah
I'm a nominal mod on Rant and Mens forum. I'm 22 years old. I work from home.
My name is a direct protest to the free Tibet movement and the American media's romanticization and one-sided presentation of the issue. Hence the China before the Lama.
Lama = monk, not wooly hoofed animal of the Andes (llama).
I'm not really nationalistically Chinese anymore, except when I'm joking around and bashing Koreans and Taiwanese. I'm actually very regionalist in my political beliefs. :) I'm proud to have been born in what should be the capital of China, Shanghai, and I'm proud to LIVE in the world capital, New York.

im ur auto moderator #2, mrazntre is ur #1
- i live around Los Angels in the center of the so called car culture.
- i make lotsa smart ass comments but i believe also in the rule of law, im pro-law enforcement, military, etc
- AB says i know alot bout weapons. this stems from while u guyz were reading the cat in the hat i was reading technical military stuff and learning bout planes, guns, tanks, tactics, and past wars.
- i also moderate the anime forum. i used to watch alot of domestically released anime, but now i just watch fan subs which are downloadable.
- i believe in the free exchange in information. so burning CD's and DVD's is all good to me... "piracy bah its a back up copy"
- i also believe in autonomous regions of china suceeding unlike chinalama. tibet should be free and so should china stop posturing treateningly toward taiwan, but like chinalama i like to be a smart Ass to koreans. =P
I'm nothing of consequence as far as YW is concerned. But I've been here almost as long as these folks so I thought I'd might as well reintroduce myself as well...
I'm a 25 year-old Chinese-American born, raised and still living in sunny Santa Monica, CA (more or less Los Angeles). You'll often find me drinking at some K-town bar/cafe with my friends or speeding down the 10 freeway in my ever-so-slightly riced out Honda. Now that Winter's fast approaching, I hope to hit up the ski slopes at Mammoth or Tahoe. I just finished my first year as a practicing attorney but I'll be looking for a new job soon, so if any of you have any leads, hit me up.

*gasp* You're a consultant for IBM. Is your company on that site hiring any interns?

i'm not technically working for IBM. IBM contracted the company i'm working for and i'm working on-site with them.
you want an internship with IBM? i can check for you if they're hiring any interns at this site.

That would be awesome. Would it be possible for you to find out if there's one in Chicago?, or is that out of your reach? I'd like to work in the Midwest or in L.A. also for Management Informations Systems internships. What kind of programming do you do, if I may ask?

i can ask if they do any internships on this site, but to find out about any other sites, i think it's probably better if you check on the web. i'm almost certain they don't do internships at the site i'm at though, because it requires security clearance and it costs alot of money to process the papers for that. but anyway, i'll ask for you.
right now i'm mainly doing java programming.

Well, I took Java Programming for a year, Systems Analysis & Design, and now I'm taking Datacommunication & Networking. Next semester, I'm planning to take Database Management which prepares me for Visual Basic and SQL, and Client/Server. fun fun......
I did an internship at ABC here in St. Louis, or KDNL-TV 30 to be exact, with a Systems Administrator learning about the network there. I got to meet a lot of news anchors there that deliver the sports and what not. The place also houses three notable radio stations. I thought some of the DJs were uppity, especially this female who goes to Hollywood all the time for gossip. Biatch. So, I ignore them. :D
