Awesome movie.
Like the story development getting to how the Batman came to be.
Katie Holmes was totally miss cast, I see that. Should have been someone older.
hope you didn't pay more than $14.99 that first week! :P

Normally I'm neither a fan of the overly pumped up nor Christian Bale but the guy was bumpy in the right places and brought a sense of humor and intelligence to Wayne I haven't seen in the other movies.
Unlike some of the other folks, I actually liked Katie Holmes in the role. I thought her acting was okay... until the last scene which was mainly starring Katie Holmes' nipples. Her half-face stroke victim smile gets to me though.

Oo, oo -- I didn't like how low he spoke at times. I had to keep saying, "What did he say? Reverse that, turn it up!" :frown:
And Katie Holmes -- there was this smirk on her face in some scenes that irritated me. "Batman, slap that smirk off her!"

The movie actually surprised me. I particularly liked some of the hallucinations.

I didn't realize KP made that comment. I agree with the half-face stroke victim thing. Didn't notice the other thing, though. Rats. :frown:
I think they could have used a more mysterious sort of personality in the Holmes DA character.
The Gordon character was kind of a wallflower, too.

Really? I thought Gary Oldman had him pegged pretty good. I didn't even recognize him until much later. And then when he got in on the action towards the end...not shabby at all, IMO.

Maybe, I'm just used to the TV version of that loud Irish guy.

Yeah, Gary Oldman is a great Gordon. And remember he ain't even the commish yet. Expect to see his character evolve in (hopefully) the sequels to this series.

I agree, I thought Christian Bale would be great as Bruce Wayne/ Batman but when I actually watched the movie I retracted that thought. To me, he just doesn't convey Batman and yes he mumbles too much and he's trying too hard to sound gruff as Batman.
Why's everyone hating on Katie's half-smirk? That's her signature facial expression that has endeared the world to her! I bet everyone had The Gift flashbacks when they saw Katie's nipples popping through her shirt!

Same here. I had to roll through the credits slowly to see who Oldman had played. My guess is they wanted an understated Sgt. Gordon so he can later be developed as he is promoted.

I think michael keaton had a better "voice" as batman.
I agree that Bale sounded like he was trying too hard.

I like to defend Bale here about his gruffy voice when he's Batman. It is a fact that all superheroes have to hide away their identity. Though with other superhero films they didn't make much of a fuss in changing their voice, it does lose a slight essence of realism, which in this case, they tried. And in respect, I thought it was well tackled.
Why hating Katie's half-smirk? Because it's been badly seen and overly emphasised as a teenage facial expression. In honesty, I can't take her seriously when watching any movies that are meant to be quite formal. The only film I liked from her is 'Go' because she had to play a teenager which was perfect for her to use the smirk-face.
I haven't got round to buying this film. It's one of the better of the 5 batman movies, though the first is it, since Michael Keaton was the one who made batman.

Agreed. It teetered into silly. Sounded like he gargled with kitty litter.

The first preview I'd seen of Bale as Batman, it was the "someone who'll rattle the cages" scene with Nipples Holmes. And it did make me cringe a little, probably cuz I just wasn't used to it. But I think Bale's take on Batman (regarding his voice specifically) was a lot more daring at the same time. I'm trying to remember any scenes from Batman or Batman Returns in which Keaton ever raises his voice above that raspy whisper.
And how did you guys not recognize Gary Oldman?:P I think either he or Christopher Nolan specifically intended Gordon's role to be mellowed out, because if you've ever seen Oldman in practically any other movie, he can tend to go friggen berzerk (ever see The Professional? "I want you to get everybody..." "Everybody?" "EVERRRRRRRRRYBODDDDDDDY!")
