Steve Carell was on Western Australian radio station MIX FM this past week whilst in the country promoting "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and briefly touched upon a film adaptation of "Get Smart" he's been attached to. According to listener 'Pat', Carell says "He's bought up Kristin Kreuk's name from "Smallville" as a possible 99, because the new 99 is written younger. He apparently met with her recently (they talked about her Chinese heritage then). He also said he'll be doing a Bruce Almighty sequel".

Hey! That's unfair. I don't think its fair to say she can't act when we simply haven't seen her do anything else except her role in Smallville. It could be like Virgina Madsen and Thomas Hayden who spent most of their career in roles that didn't showcase their talent before the movie Sideways. But, even with Smallville, I think she does a great job.

But, Kreuk definitely gets my vote for one of the most beautiful young actresses on TV now that Katie Holmes is not doing TV anymore.

It's from an old TV show called Get Smart where the main character is Maxwell Smart AKA Agent 86, his woman side kick was Agent 99.

she did wizard of earthsea too. that was an awful miniseries, and she didn't get to act much out of her range.

speaking of katie, batman begins revealed how horrid her acting is. it wasn't easy to notice before, but when she was acting w/ pro's like bale and company it was glaringly obvious.

Well, how much criticism should be directed at the actress vs. the director. We really have no way of knowing how much Kreuk's range could be. Maybe, its the director that's directing her to display only a limited amount of range or the role itself that's limiting her range.

As for Katie Holmes, she was absolutely perfect in the movie The Gift. Didn't hit a false note at all.

What do you guys find so attractive about her? Difference of perspectives I guess. I mean she's not ugly by any means...just that...if she wasn't famous I don't think she'd turn any heads. I guess we shouldn't be judging her mainly on her appearance anyway, my bad.

She's got this natural beauty to her that just draws you in, where she would be just as beautiful waking up in the morning as getting all dressed up for a fancy date.

With hapas, they're a mix of caucasian and asian features. Sometimes, when you mix that up, it just doesn't look right at all. Other times, you get the best of both worlds, where the hapa is just stunning looking. I would categorize Kreuk in the latter.

Two questions:

1) Why would he talk about her Chinese heritage with her?

2) Why would he feel the need to publicize his talk with her about her Chinese heritage?

Not like I really care in the end. I want Steve Carell to be my bestest friend. And by being my bestest friend, I really mean I want to keep him as a personal jester.

I think Michelle as 99 would be a big mistake. She is not my favorite Hapa. If you want to go with a beautiful Hapa Actress then the only choice is Jaymee Ong. Check her out.

Jaymee Ong is definitely one of my favorite amongst hapa actresses! Fell in love with her when I first saw Gen-X Cops. Does anybody have that Aaron Kwok video she was in? She is SOOOOOO hot in that video!!! I used to have it but lost it. :frown:

Has anybody ever watched Edgemont? It was a canadian TV series with Kristin Kreuk, and Grace Park when they first started acting. Any good?

That must have been a fairly pointless conversation, since her mother is an Indonesian national who can't speak Chinese.

Well, maybe the conversation was an extensive one on her slight Chinese heritage, which is still a conversation about her Chinese heritage.

I am not a big fan of Smallville, but I saw an episode of it last night, mute with closed caption. The episode was about a girl who died (I think) and kept possessing everyone in town with her spirit. When she possessed Kreuk's character I thought Kreuk did a pretty good job.
