What do you do on trans-Pacific flights? Sleep? Watch movies? Smoke? Listen to music? Have any tips to share?

I always carry plenty of snacks and drink a lot of water. I'm a bit claustrophobic so I try to sleep as much as possible. For motion sickness I used to take Dramamine, but now I take this Chinese medicine - little brown pills in a tube. Dramamine is just too strong for me.

I think next time I'm going to bring a lap top and plenty of movies.

you must tell me which airline lets you smoke on a plane! i'm going to use them next time.

my friend's brother is a pharmacist. she said that he gave her some sleeping pills once and it worked wonders. she just slept and slept.

The last time I flew JAL. This was after the smoking ban. No one smoked leaving the US, but about 3 hours into the flight someone lit up and then everyone did. I was about to bum a cigarette because I thought I was breathing so much second hand smoke that I might as well enjoy some first hand.

Concord and super sonic flight would make the flight better and faster.

Join the mile high club, if ya haven't. :D

Then get piss drunk and pass out.

I pop some sleeping pills and by the time I arrive, my jet lag will be almost non-existant. But in my medical opinion, I strongly suggest against doing that.

Yeah, but it'll prolly not do much. Because even though you're in the sky. You can't fool your own body's circadian rhythm.

I'm talking about good ol prescription lorazepam aka ativan hehe. Damn hope, I don't get in trouble for this. One of the uses of Ativan is used to treat insomnia, haha 1mg will plant you on your ass.

Worked wonders for my jetlag when I went to Taiwan, summer of my first year of medical school. No jetlag whatsoever.

Yeah, when you're done and she wants to cuddle, you'll naturally pass out. No hangovers and no after effects from any drugs. :retard:

flying first class helps alot! i got bumped once and it was like the best experience i've ever head..

even if you bring a lap top.. the battery will run out before you even get to the Pacific...

i usually just try to stay up the whole night before.. then sleep on the plane, that way it gets rid of the jet lag too.. or some of it anyway

Sleep. Through the entire thing. And buy a stack of magazines beforehand just in case I wake up.

hmm, I had the worst flight coming back from taiwan. first, I was sick with strep throat. so I have a fever and my throat feels itchy and I feel dizzy. second, it is fucking 50 degrees Fahrenheight in the airplane! So I'm sick with itchy throat and fever and its really cold. then, a big fat guy sits next to me and spills into my seat! so I'm sick with itchy throat, fever, its 50F in the cabin, and some fat guy is sitting on me! Now compound that in a 14 hour flight and....

now of course on the flight there I sat next to this cute 26 year old japanese interior designer chick from canada named mariquo and we had a nice long conversation for 5 hours. who knows, maybe shes reading this

I prayed that they have movies that I want to watch. I also bring a whole bunch of magazine and a walkman/mp3 player. :)

I fly to Asia 4 times a year and this works for me:

To get some sleep, take an allergy pill+Ibuprofen (so your back doesn't hurt as much from the 12-15 hour flight). Don't eat too much of the airplane food as it can upset your tummy. Go to Trader Joe's buy some dried fruit and nuts. You'll need the fiber ;) I've tried melatonin and it didn't do shit for me.

Take a flight that leaves at midnight such as Eva Air of Cathay Pacific so you naturally go to sleep at that time.

Wear something comfy like sweats. Bring earplugs.

I always get the worse movies. Once I had to suffer through "An American Quilt" (I thought they were gonna put on the Lifetime channel next). They last time around I had to watch "Like Mike",a stupid movie. The worse. I want my 2 hours back.
