Kim Possible,
(I'd prefer this over K-Impossible, as I'm the "glass is half-full type of person...)

Having worked in Seoul, Korea for one year (architecting and implementing a computer system, attending Korean language lessons not teaching English...), I also have one more point to my messages and links to my site:

#3. Debunk myths regarding Korean (or Asian) cultures.

For example, many friends think that learning to read & write in "Korean" is very difficult. This is not true and I was surprised at how easy it was to learn how to read Korean and understand beginner-level Korean. (a lot easier than French)

Also, some folks here in Canada think that Korean & Japanese food is very similar. This is also a myth that my writing is trying to dispell.

Cheers,
Bandy!

naah...
i never thought that...
i know reading and writing came
really easy for me...
its being able to learn how to
have an actual conversation in korean
that i've always found more difficult...
but than again, i know i should put more
effort into learing that aspect tho...

anyhow...
welcome to yw...

So, how does one who's not Korean, end up running/owning a Korean restaurant?

(details!)

Kim, Thanks for filing this thread in the "intro" section! :)

Hooligan, at my blog site (linked in my profile) I have written several articles (Adventure Category) which detail my experiences working in Seoul, Korea. During my time there I really enjoyed Korean food and had hoped that someday I might find "a great" restaurant in Vancouver, BC.

Since "a great one" didn't exist, we decided to open one....

...the rest of the stories are at my blog site. (for those folks interested)

Happy reading,

Bandy

Hey hooligan,

I wrote a new "true event" article on my site which tells a story of something that happened when I got back from Korea and might explain a little more about "Why?"... I opened a Korean restaurant.

Thanks for the question / interest. Enjoy the story and per the expression in the article....

"May all your dreams become reality!
...Your friends at Insadong!"

Cheers,
Bandy!

Hooligan, I've had a few people here in Vancouver ask me the same question recently. I've started a "novel" on my site which will talk about some of my adventures while working in Seoul, Korea... (site link is in my profile...) - cheers, Bandy!
