If you want to date Asian guys, date em. If you don't, don't date em. Bottomline, I won't lose any sleep cuz you don't date Asian guys. But don't get at me in a negative way because you had a bad experience(s) with us and generalize us as "this way." In other words quit hatin' and cock blockin. Who hasn't had bad experiences?

And yes I'm a little bitter about being constantly scrutinized, psychoanalyzed and criticized for being an Asian male. And I'm sure there are others that feel the same way.

Is it me? Because it seems like Asian males are constantly being compared to other males of other races. It's fine to debate Asian males in a forum like YW. But to have it thrown at your face almost everyday, it's getting played.

For me especially when my girlfriend's female friends come over it's always Asian guys are this and Asian guys are that. What's difference between Asian guys vs <insert race/color> guys. And for real, my girlfriend's friends are the most bitter. I actually pissed them off once when I said: "There's a reason why Sarah is with someone and you guys aren't."

So does it seem that we're always been compared to other guys of other races? Are we destined to carry the burden of all bitter Asian women that has been wronged by the action of a few Asian males they've encountered? Are you just tired of being analyzed? ANd why is our bar set so high?

And another thing? Where in god's name did I get the stereotype that I want a submissive and subservient wife because I'm Asian?

I always thought we were overanalyzed because society cut off collective cocks off and made us bowing bucktoothed servant people. So maybe some of the comparison is because of that, and because of overmasculine thug wannabe reactions to that stereotype.

as for the second one, the submissive wife, that's proly cuz Asian cultures are constantly being harped on as being patriarchal, and some of it, at least is seen to be reflected in us.

Yes I agree with both. But can we take it by a case by case and individual basis? I mean come on. Bottomline is we're all guys at least last time I checked myself. Maybe I should check again.

I think this is especially frustrating because there are so many stereotypes about Asian men that are completely unfounded (even less so for Asian-American men). One culprit of this is the lack of exposure in the mainstream media of Asian men. There aren't that many that act (unless you're a high-kicking, kung-fu master) and there's not much mention of Asian American athletes. TV shows? Not too many. Politicians, virtually nil. Mainstream music artists, scarce.

So what do people know about Asian men? Not too much, only the stereotypes. It's up to us Asian men to inform the masses that we're hip, we're hot and we're not gonna take you're pigeon holing laying down. Women, compare me all you want, when (if) you get past my exterior, I'm confident you'll like what you see. If you don't take a hike, I'm not too worried about it.

maybe it's just me, but i personally don't really feel effected by stereotypes about Asian men. well, maybe it has actually effected my dating opportunities and i don't even know about it. i mean, yeah stereotypes about us suck, but no woman, asian or not, is going to deny you because of what she heard about asian men (well except for those girls that refuse to date asian guys), it still all depends on your game. so in that sense, i personally don't feel effected by it.

It doesn't affect me going out to meet women. It affects me when I have a swarm of bitter and angry Asian women in my apartment attacking Asian males. I rather seek sanctuary and do some unfinished work at the hospital. What can I do their my girlfriend's friends. We don't get in between petty issues between our family and personal friends, unless one gives the other the greenlight.

But man I went thru tylenols like crazy this past month. And on top of that they ask her if it's a mistake to be with me? Because I'm a Chinese guy. Making her cook and clean after she comes home from work, unreasonable demands and shit. Yah, like I make her do it. Look around the apartment, hello it's a mess. Neither of us does much cooking or cleaning. I'm not perfect, but I do the best that I can. And for real mind your own business? They get all this from me being Chinese.

it's part of what it means to be a minority in america. if they were white, they'd still complain, but they'd complain about men in general instead of asian men. race becomes an issue by virtue of us being a minority.

In all seriousness...while I'm sick of how Asian men are consistently portrayed in our society as this or that, I think I have less a beef with Asian women now. I used to get very, very annoyed by my female friends who just couldn't seem to let go of things, wouldn't be willing to squash it...on the other hand, while the negative stereotypes that some AFs have of us are blown out of proportion sometimes, I do know a lot of jacked up guys who've done some fuuuucked up things to their girlfriends. I've just known of too many guys who've beaten up on their gf's, and it sounds crazy and unrealistic...but da shit is out there.

that's another thing. i think if an asian girl got beat by her white boyfriend, it wouldn't make her stay away from white guys. on the other hand, if she got beat by her asian boyfriend, she'd probably stay away from asian guys.

Yeah man, I feel the same way. I feel that there are alot of Asian females who would'nt give us the time of day because of steretypes and whatnot. Even then I realize that I can't feel angry or feel bitter. After all, it's their life and they can choose to live it however they want to. I don't feel that we -- or at least I -- have the right to criticise AF at all. True, but not me. I've been more of the recipient than the giver if ya catch my drift.

Edit: and when de women attach the word "Asian" before guy, yeah I think it's pertaining to Asian guys as opposed to just saying "guy."
