Notes from Stadium Tour (http://iowa.scout.com/2/426759.html)

Iowa Officials took the media on a tour of the newly constructed South portion of Kinnick Stadium Saturday morning before the Kids Day Scrimmage. Here are some highlights and notes from the tour.
...
Iowa’s team bus will now pull up to the South side of the stadium to enter the locker room. Visitors will come in on the SW side.
...
There are 95 lockers in the home team room and 73 for the visitors. They’re made of maple. Really nice.
...
The visiting locker room, as you can imagine, was the highlight of the tour. Pink carpet. Pink walls. Pink urinals. Pink lockers. Pink tile. Pick toilets. Everything is done in pink, but with style.
...

Thoughts on that... (http://www.hawkcentral.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050821/HAWKS0104/508210316/1058)
It'll be interesting to hear what the opposing coaches and players have to say about the visitor's locker room. I could live to be 100 and still not see anything as hideous as what I saw Saturday.

The visitor's locker room comes in various shades of pink that range from ugly to uglier.

Former Iowa coach Hayden Fry was right because the pink walls make you want to hug somebody instead of smack them.

"(Hayden) will love it," Jennings said of the new visitor's locker room. "We built this locker room in honor of Hayden Fry."

All it needs is a few throw cushions, maybe a Rothko on the wall ... lovely.

Really. Nothing like a little relaxing atmosphere before you --
* Knock heads off.
* Cut people from under.
* Cause concussions.
* Come back bruised, battered, and bloody.

Actually, the visiting teams ought to wear a nice swatch of pink on the front of their uniforms.

I think the psychology of pink works against people in the heat of their aggression. So, as a lineman is trying to blow holes for his back, he'd lose an edge stairing at the pink jersey of the opposing player. :biggrin:

Pink. The new tool of psychological warfare!

Well, if you want to be butch, pink is also the colour of frothy blood.

Do pastel colours really have an effect -- or time to have an effect -- when a team is readying itself for play? What with the roar of the crowd, the coach psyching players up, with the buzz of sweat and testosterone in ... in the air ... hot sweaty muscled bodies ... pumping up ... mmmm ... pumping ... um, sorry, what was the question again?

What is it about some men and pink? Witness:

At Arkansas (http://www.nwanews.com/story.php?paper=adg&section=Sports&storyid=124544) , his (Reggie Herring's) spirited practices gained him some national notoriety in the spring when he had several players wear pink jerseys.

They had not performed up to his expectations the previous day.

Some protests made Nutt decide there might be other ways to inspire players to perspire.

Think pink may have disappeared, but not Herring’s disciplined approach to the game of football.

I mostly wear black. It's so slimming.

Well, that settles it! Pink jerseys on game day! :biggrin:

I'm seeing where there are some teams that feature a woman's pink version of the team jersey. Do women sports fans really need that to feel like a team fan? :confused:

Good for you, because some kid named Joel Cobbs (http://www.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/teenpage/050726/clothes.shtml) says:

"One of the things I hate is when guys wear those earrings that leave a big hole in the ear . . . and I don't think pink looks good on guys either. Certain white men can't exactly wear pink, and they're the ones who wear it."
