Tung to conduct Williams demo in Rotterdam.

The BMW WilliamsF1 team has confirmed that rising Dutch born Chinese racing talent, Ho-Pin Tung, will pilot one of the team's FW26 race cars around the city streets of Rotterdam in the Netherlands on Sunday August 7.

The event, according to the team, "is one of many intended to take F1 out of the confines of its usual race circuit settings to a wider audience in cities around the world".

Tung's August demonstration in the Netherlands follows sights of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team running F1 cars across Sydney Harbour Bridge, downtown in Melbourne and is part of a wider programme that will see more events this year from Singapore to Edinburgh.

Tung is no stranger to Williams, having tested with the Anglo-German squad in late 2003 as a reward for a dominant racing performance in the F-BMW Asia Championship that year. On his debut behind the wheel of an F1 car at the Jerez in Spain, he immediately impressed seasoned observers with his mature command of a Grand Prix car. After his successes in the Formula BMW Championship, he graduated to Formula Three and is currently racing in the 2005 German Recaro Formula 3 Championship with notable success.

The opportunity for Tung to drive in Rotterdam is a special one. The event organisers of the 'Monaco on the Maas' event in the city centre are staging a festival of powered machinery, of which the highlight will undoubtdely be the F1 demonstration. Tung, as a Dutch national, is looking forward to the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform to over half a million expected compatriots.

"It is exciting enough to climb behind the wheel of a Williams again, but it will be all the more amazing to do this in front of a massive home crowd," he said. "I think it is great that the BMW WilliamsF1 Team are actively taking the sport to the people and its great to be part of that in my home country."

He looks young. Looks a little like Nicholas Tse in this photo, but I'd say this guy looks much much better.

This is freakin' cool. Hopefully he can make some noise because the last time I followed up with F1 Williams wasn't doing extraordinarily well (with the "other" Schumy in charge). Is he still there?
