I have unexpectedly found this board websurfing around, so perhaps I'd stay for a while to read various threads until I finally decided to sign-up because this is such a nice community.
My name is Mel, I'm 20-years-old, and I am a long-time Seattle area resident. I'm a current student at some lame-ass local community college, persuing an associates degree in web development. And that's pretty much covering the basics there. It's three in the morning and I should get some sleep.
Great meeting y'all!
Hi Mel!! My name is Mel as well! I think community colleges are underestimated.... Besides, if you want a bachelor’s then you can always continue your education at a university.
Anyway, welcome to YW and I hope you enjoy! ^_~

Thanks guys. Well, I have yet to meet another guy named 'Mel', other than my own Dad. :chuckle:
I've been attending this college for a couple years now, and while I enjoy some of my classes, it's just it feels pretty dead around here. Not as fun as my senior year in high school with all the great friends and teachers, but it's just college and it's all serious business.
Yeah, I too think community colleges tend to be underestimated at times. I usually hear snide remarks about community colleges being an "extension of high school" and so forth, but it is just as hard as any university and working at a smaller class size.
I won't get ahead too far with this topic; I'll save it for the 'students' forum.

Hey hey. I'm from Seattle. I went to Shoreline Community College, I loved it. It was better than all my other experiences at 4-year colleges. I'm currently at WASU.

Fellow Seattleite, nice to meet you. I know a few people from my old high school days who currently attend Shoreline. Right now, I attend classes at Edmonds Community College and I hope this fall quarter will look much better.

^ My friend goes to ECC. Or maybe he transferred to the UW. I forgot, it's been a while since I talked to him. I'm pretty much the only Asian guy I know that didn't go to the UW since it's swarming with them over there.

I've always wanted to attend the UW, but admissions is a pain in the ass and I'm not bright enough to get in anyway. My cousin has been going there for the last year and she said she really hates the amount of work load she gets. EdCC however has a lot of Japanese students coming in here.
Once I finish here, I'm really stuck on what to do next. I like working on computers, but I'm not too sure if I'd want to stick in this area for long.
