Hello everyone! I've been around Yellowworld for about a week now and I thought I'd take the time to intoduce myself.

I just recently graduated from the University of Maryland and I am now in Japan teaching English at Omiya Koryo High School.

I am 1/2Korean and 1/2 White
I am 100% American

You can find out more about me from my webpage at http://eugene.whong.org

I am glad that here on Yellowworld there are people that actually try to argue if they disagree rather than the usual, shut up honkeylover and similar responses I have seen on sites like http://www.korealink.com and a few others.

I don't know if I have made any friends, but I definately see a few people who I share similar views with, so I am glad I have met you.

I like a good debate, so I am also glad to have met those with which I disagree.

Peace out!

Here's a belated welcome:)

Thanks for being a good sport about things. While there will be some who might disagree with some of your views here, we try and respect everyone's opinion. It's when things denigrate to personal barbs that I get peeved.

By the way, I guess I'm a little dumb -- I didn't even realize what your username meant until kasia pointed it out to me. Did you get a shirt?

Dude, that shirt is like a secret language. It's how Koreans can identify each other over here just by sight, tho a lot of Japanese posers have been caught wearing it and look dumbfounded when approached by someone suspecting a fellow Korean. It kinda sucked that I came here after the World Cup tho, cuz man in Okubo I heard it was crazy. (Okubo is Tokyo's Koreatown)

I've made some friends (and enemies) over here by wearing that shirt. I have 2 of them. Two different friends in Korea sent me one. I was planning to just print up a bunch and sell them outside my local Korean grocery store this summer but I never got around to it.

Nobody knows what it means except Koreans and this strange new phenominon that has appeared her recently. Koreaphiles! There all over the place here in Japan.

Oh

Be The Reds! was a Konglish slogan printed on a red shirt that supporters of the Korean National Soccer team wore. I found out about it ironically by watching the world cup coverage on the spanish channel this summer. It's either a bad translation of what they really wanted to say or just someone's faulty English. I've used the SN on other places and someone thought I was from Cincinati.

I am *so* glad you explained your handle. I've been wondering why a guy was using the name Beth and what the hell could that have to do with red.

Japan is cool. Right now it's kinda boring cuz I basically go to work every day and go home. On the weekends I hang out with some of my Japanese friends and my GF usually, but for the most part, it's kinda boring. I sorta wish I had come here as an exchange student so I could get more friends more easily.

Digging up old threads.

I think it is kind of interesting to notice who said hi.

I rarely ever say hi to any newbies because so many people come in all the time. Oh well.

It's also interesting to go thru this thread and see all the people who came, and dissappeared after a week.

Sometimes it's seems better to wait, and see who is just passing through.

Although saying hi seems like an easy way to pick up a post-count. :nerd:

actually,
it seems that most of the members that posted in this thread are still around-- maybe not as often... but they still do continue to participate on yw...

but anyways yeah, while this is considered a fluff forum...
i think its important to note that even with a simple hello... i think it makes a difference to those newbies who make their introduction... when it comes to making them feel welcome...

anyways BTR,
good to see that your still around

:)
