see this is a problem for the recent sexual harassment post. is he cute?, who cares. its a situation where one has authority over another, not acceptable, not professional. so if you are good looking, you can get away with more shit. if you’re ugly, its unwanted and creepy. not lecturing anyone here, the comment was made in jest, but someone has to stand up for the not so good looking. example i was trying to hire a work study for our lab, i noticed the guy next to me, was hiring only good looking girls also being more receptive to questions. if someone was not so good looking, the guy wouldn't even make a comment, just answering yes or no to questions. bah.

Sure, it's inappropriate... but if he's cute, I may not sue.

^-- That is why sexual harassment laws are retarded, by the way. Because they are BIASED. Only "UNWANTED" sexual advances are deemed inappropriate. LAME.

And to answer the question... if male teachers flirt with me, I usually don't do anything. As long as they aren't disgusting, I giggle and smile and put on a cute girl act... so I can pass the damn class.

I don't think the laws are bullshit, there are some very legit cases for sexual harassment out there. Take the instance of my sis for example. She's not even straight, so it doesn't matter if the guy is cute or not to her. She gets a lot of shit from men because she's young and cute - to the point where it made the workplace inefficient and she came home every day nearly in tears because the assholes she worked with couldn't stop acting like apes. She tried to fight it on a personal basis and give them shit back, but she was outnumbered. Her boss (a guy) sided with all the other guys.

I think you're right, but I'm looking at it from a guy's perspective. He is interested in a girl... approaches her... and gets slapped with a sexual harassment suit. If he was better looking, or if she was actually INTERESTED, he gets the date. Why doesn't the girl just fucking reject him instead of sue him? In cases where there's like outright harassment going on... groping, really really DISGUSTING comments, unneccessary disgustingness, etc... then that's one thing. But a girl shouldn't have the luxury of threatening lawsuit when a guy asks her on a date. If only there was a better way to screen this bullshit... or keep disgusting men locked in their offices. lol~

i think alot of women would rather retain a professional environment at the work place, and not have her sexuality be brought up.

then there would be world peace but of course the alpha centurians would slaughter us when they come with their invasion because we'd be too peace loving. all in all, women in power spells destruction for humanity.

Dirty shit.

Of course, there were at least two teachers at my ol' high school that ended up marrying former students of theirs. While I suppose the age disparity isn't always that great in all cases (e.g., you could have a 22 year old teaching a class of 17 and 18 year old seniors), I think the disparity in power makes any such relationship wrong right out of the starting gate. Even a relationship after the fact, I think, is still sketchy.

:: example of what would happen if women ruled the world::

Typical occurance every 28 days or so.

Russsia on the phone: Hey USA, this is Russia. What's going on, I mean, why are you bombing us?

USA: Oh, you know why... and if you don't, well, I'm not going to tell you.

how did you respond? what grade were you in? and does this happen often?

also--did he explicitly use your grades as leverage? (regardless, he's an ass for making passes at a student period.)

maybe we can all come up with a creative and smart way to respond to jerks like him. i'm sure we'll all come across men like that at some point in our lives...

thanks for sharing with us, princess.

here's one possible difficulty: you're a bad student. or, you're not *that* attractive. or both. his response is that you are lying, that you have had a crush on him for a while, that you just want attention.

if you're running the risk of being labeled as a liar and a freak, would you still do it?

In which case I would totally freak out, feeling as tho he's putting moves on me and making an attempted rape. In which case I would do the previous even faster.

Amen!!!! I have always had something against those who act like they're above every one else. AARRGHHHH!!!!! And it's often the "good-looking people" or "handsome" ones.

Of course, this doesn't apply to every pretty or good looking girl, just a lot of 'em in my experience. Guys too to tell you the truth. Thanks for bringing that up, dude.
