oh, umm there might be some pseudo-spoilers in this post, so if you haven't seen it but you're going to, you should probably stop now. :D
so, i just got all the episodes of evangelion from some other computer on the network here. i couldn't stop watching it once i started...
but around the last 6 episodes or so, things started getting really weird and confusing. i.e., instrumentality project, all the different ppl talking at the same time and going all nuts... and what exactly happens at the end w/all the evas and shinji's decision? does he choose to destroy everything and then change his mind? so confused!! :retard:

thats all open to interpretation kinda like the bible.
my take is shinji in the TV series decided to create a world of fake happiness and in turn a sorta happy LCL memory world.
For the movie he does choose the other road and it ends up him and asuka as adam and eve all over again.

this one is rather..."definitive" at least inthe eyes of the author

one of the most extensive sites ive come across

another great faq site, for some odd reason written from the perspective of gendo
anyway, i dont wanna contradict any of you but apparently the official stance of gainax is that the end of evangelion isnt really an alternate ending, but rather a complement to the tv ending. basically they are able to "fill in" some of the blanks that the tv ending left behind.. as for shinji and asuka being adam and eve, thats a possibility i think, then again, in the movie it explicitly states that anyone who wishes to return from the LCL can. so although we only see shinji and asuka, id venture to say that they are not the only ones who made it back...
woohoo im a nerd!! hollah back!
At the risk of sounding like an idiot, what is Neon Genesis Evangelion? I've seen the toys at newbury comics in MA and the dvd here at FT Dix, but what is it about... in one or two paragraphs? e-mail if it's easier. Thanks!
I seemed to have become contemplacent with my anime viewing. Armatige and Ghost in the Shell are probably the most recent anime I've seen (unless you count watching sailor moon at work).

Evangellion is Gendo Ikari's complex sucide plan which includes giant robots, angelic monsters, several organizations, and his son.

to answer the questions: 1) you're not really supposed to 'get' all that's going on-- in fact, that's sort of the point. and by the 'end' do you mean the movie 'the end of eva', or the last 2 episodes of the tv series?
and, for LT25, a summary, without spoilers: Evangelion is a show based loosely (veryveryveryvery loosely) on the Book of Revelation. There has already been a "first impact", in which a good portion of humanity was destroyed; they are now awaiting the final day of reckoning. "Angels", huge evil beings, are being sent to try and destroy humanity; the earth is being defended by the organisation NERV, which uses these things (if i say what they are, it ruins some stuff later) called Evangelions, which are 'piloted' by children.
There's a lot of really deep psychological stuff-- far more than any tv show i've ever seen. I normally don't like anime, but someone convinced me to watch this, and i *love* it. It's an amazing show. Oh, and if you're talking about the harvard sq. newbury comics, you can probably rent this series right in that same building at tokyo kid:)
Thanks for the info wylin and noriko. if I can rent it first I will. maybe I'll buy one... what's $20 right?
