proposed age limit would be 20...

popular argument is that kids can fight in a war at age 18... denying them to make a living is unconstitutional...

age limit justified? needed? possible?

i don't know if the law is necessary, but the last time i checked, there are plenty of other professions that one can take on before the age of 18. and you can't work at a casino until you're 21 either. there's a lot more jobs in the gambling industry than in the nba. how come nobody's complaining about that?

htf would that limit be unconstitutional? the nba is a private institution. they can implement any regulation they want. or are they next going to say the ban on performance-enhancing substances is also unconsitutional, because it prevents players from using their resources to better their skills and/or abilities?

well, as a private instituion, the association still needs the union to approve any age limit. to me, it would seem like a no-brainer since it would prolong the careers of current players.

more importantly, it would help both the nba and the college game.

right now, you get all these high schoolers drafted who you've never heard of. its hard to get excited, whereas it used to be you'd know all about the draft picks because they had played in college for a few years.

under the current system, you've got teams drafting players who aren't ready yet and need to develop. its not a good way to develop your skills like that. and, it sucks for a team to have invested in a player who takes years to develop, who then ends up leaving the team.

and, it would help the collge game as well. its almost become a bad thing for a player to stick around in college.
