After I swapped in my new motor and new tranny, I started to experience tranny fluid drip. I've been meaning to fix the leak for a while now, but since I'm lazy and have been quite the loser lately, I have only made the time to fix it today.
So you have a tranny leak......
Two basic sources, either a cracked tranny case or you have crapped out shaft seals, also known as side gear oil seal (don't get this mixed up with crankshaft seal).
In my case it was the shaft seals.
This was a rather easy procedure, the only problem came when I was given the wrong seal for the driver's side. Other than that, I just unbolted the half axle from the tranny, popped off the shaft receiver and popped the seal off with a screwdriver. I popped in the new seal, tapped it in with a blunt object and greased the inner side of the seal with multi-purpose grease. Tap the shaft receiver back into the tranny, bolt back the half axle... and voila! I am done! I'm still greasy.. must take shower....
