Can you spot another mixed Asian? I always think I can. There's like 20 eurasian family members on my mom's side of the family. Don't know if I can describe it in words, but I can usually spot 'em. Even the ones that look really non-Asian.

yeah. doesn't work as well in the US, though. but maybe it's just that in HK, white people are ... well, incredibly white-looking. i see plenty who actually look like the caricatures of white people in my old japanese textbooks. not quite sure how to describe it. so it is easier here to distinguish a hapa from just a dark-haired white girl with an unusual coincidence of facial features.

I can't always tell if someone is Hapa. And I do not go up to everyone that I think is a Hapa and ask them if they are, so I might 'think' they are hapa, but they could very well be something else.
You have so much mixing of different races in California that it gets harder and harder each day to categorize people racially.

It's one thing to spot them and another to socialize with them. Aren't Hapas generally unconfortable around one another?

Let me brag about how accurate my Hapadar can be. Dood, it's so accurate I'm never wrong. Can spot a hapa at a hundred yards with one eye closed. I can throw a nerf ball blindfolded across the room and hit the hapa hiding under the lampshade. Ok, I'm done. Thanks for listening!

I dunno. I know I'm not. I'm pretty much my happy self when hanging with other hapa peeps.

So, what does this hapadar ability buy you?

Yeah I can. Whenever I take one of those hapa tests (including BTR's test) I always get a pretty good (if not perfect) score on it.
When Amerie first came out for example, the first thing I thought to myself was "damn that girl looks half-asian." Turns out I was right. It's happened with people I've met in real life too.
I've got decent hapadar but it's not perfect. I don't get much chance to use it.

Nahh... we just act uncomfortable around one another when non-hapas are around so no one will figure out our plan to take over. :HH:

it's easy to tell if somebody's half or not here in bangkok.
i think i'm in sync with my hapadar.
sometimes i'm not so sure if the wave lengths are exclusive
to the hapadar or not though. it's almost as if the hapadar
and the hotguydar are on the same frequency.
yeah.

Hrm, my hapa radar is okay. But then, I've only encountered a limited amount of hapas in the past. Time to expand my horizons a bit more when school starts. ;)

What if it's a girl? Or a non-hot hapa male?

Dude, you look kinda tough. Before you added the pic I had this mental image of you as a little kid. Glad my first reaction was to welcome you.
Tough? Really? Naw, I'm a sweetheart . . .

Hi, I'm new..first post, yeah I think I can spot most other hapa's if their mix is 50/50. Sometimes I can tell from really far away like Hapacalypse said.
Agree w/ the tease, I can spot hapa's at about the same range as I spot hot chicks. It's probably just something you look for subconsciously. 1

So, after spotting a Hapa do you all go back to your Hapa spotting journals and record, like the bird watchers do?
