What book and software package do you think offers the best preparation for the GMAT?

I think taking a prep course would be a good idea, since GMAT score is a pretty important admissions factor.

For test prep companies, I think there's Kaplan, princeton review, powerscore.

I took powerscore for LSAT, they are really awesome at that.

Not sure which company is best for GMAT though.

Kaplan has a very good rep. I took the course and the drills very comprehensive

I would download the prep tool from MBA.com. It has the test and section review in the format of the test. I boosted my score by 100 points just using that tool alone. It's the Free GMAT Tutorial Software at http://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT

My girlfriend took the Princeton Review course and studied on her own using the Kaplan materials. She said that the Kaplan practice tests are harder, so they tend to deflate practice scores, but they make you work harder. The Princeton Review practice tests are easier, so they give you false confidence.

I have no personal experience with either for the GMAT.

I liked Kaplan better than PR too for the same reason as stated above.

No! Kaplan for GRE was less lenient than PR for SAT.

I think my bro took Kaplan for that and liked the drilling for that. He susequently went to the U of Chicago a great b-school.
