Getting into top schools (IMHO, the top 10-15 schools are really the only ones worth going to) is still as hard as ever.

but from what I heard, isn't business schools more concerned with work experience [vs UGPA/GMAT score]?

Moreso than law/med schools, but its still important. HBS, SBS, and Wharton still have average GPAs of like 3.6 and average GMATs of like 720 and its not because they throw GPA/GMAT out the window when assessing applications.

All this means is that even if you have top grades and top test scores, you still aren't guaranteed a top business school unless you have other qualities they're looking for. If you have top numbers and are applying to law school, you can be assured that at least one of the top schools will likely accept you. There are no such guarantees for MBA programs.

that's true.

Hell, even for law school admissions, my LSAT prep class teacher scored a 177 and have a 3.5 GPA, and he still got dinged by Yale, while I know a girl that got in Yale law with 168 and 3.8 GPA.

crazy, isn't it?

applications for b schools are down? make an ER equivalent tv show.

a professor told me that when ER premiered, applications for med schools and med students trying to match for ER medicine sky rocketed. he even called the surge in med school applications the ER syndrome.

supposedly there was also the same trend for law schools when LA law was on tv.

I guess 'The Apprentice' really dumbed down business schools. Just kidding. Actually, all past winners have a BS degree or some sort. The second season winner also got his MBA from UCLA.
