Valve Adjustments - Advice?

I really dont know much at all about adjusting valves...is it very difficult?
The nut on the rocker arm.....doesn't that just adjust the rocker arm....not the valves?
I was told that you turn a nut until you hear the chatter stop, then 3/4 additional turn...but I guess I don't know which nut that is...lol

What's the engine designation you're working on?

i dunno if you know or not, but some cars have self-adjusting hydraulic lifters so you might not even need to do anything at all. you might have another problem if this is the case.

A nut on the rocker arm? I'm guessin a domestic but let us know what car you're driving, how many cylinders, etc.
