what historical/fictional epics would you like to see made into movies (like Lord of the Rings)?

i want to see Romance of the Three Kingdoms made into a 3-movie epic series. plenty of warfare battle scenes, kungfu, but not the flying around variety.

World War I hasn't been done lately, and I want to see the Napoleonic wars as well. Also, it's about time Genghis Khan had a movie. This summer...SWK is....Khan. Rated R for strong graphic violence, nudity, and sexuality.

i think Steven Seagal was going to do a movie for Genghis Khan... starring himself as Genghis Khan...

Yeah, that's true...thank God it didn't pan out. Khan is a very interesting, albeit difficult character to bring to the screen, though I'm sure someone will figure out the way to do it in a few years.

hell yeah!

Also, I'd wish they make a multi-series movie with the water margin, or 水滸傳。There's so much drama in the book, and the plot is so twisted and surprising.

Outlaws of the Marsh/Water Margin/All Men Are Brothers -- not sure how many movies this would take.
Journey to the West -- Monkey King for the first movie
Red Chamber Dream
Chronicles of Narnia -- all seven, not just The Lion...

Couldn't possibly be worse than John Wayne's attempt.

he played Ghangis Khan?

I remember watching a movie about Ghangis Khan, all I remember was that he boils his enemies alive.

Napoleon and Genghis Khan are the two historical characters I would like to see become movies next, as they both are ripe for huge epic battle scenes.

Red Chamber Dream

Hmmm ... no mention of the Jin Ping Mei?

Here's what I think would be a good idea: If a Chinese filmmaker of Chen Kaige's or Zhang Yimou's standing made a two-part film of Dream of the Red Chamber (or Story of the Stone, depending on which translation you prefer) and overlayed it with a subplot about how the novel was written and what was and was not allowed to be handed down by way of the book.

Genghis Khan was voted Time magazine's most important person of the 13th century.

Stephen Chow already did a comedy-drama two movie series of the Monkey King, but he totally changed the story though. i didn't like it much.

wasn't he also voted the most influential person of the past millenium or something like that?

I remember, years ago, there was a TV mini-serial called Centennial. I'd like to see something like that attempted with British history. But with space battles.
