I got the same lame Dell original with tattered sides. :frown:

I need something new to spice up my workspace.

Is there Asian themed mousepad designs?

Should I get a bunch of different mousepads, and pull-out the fancy stuff when I have meetings?

If you have an optical mouse, you don't really need a mousepad. "Asian-themed" mousepads usually look something like this (http://www.bustymousepads.com/), so you might want to look for something a little more conventional...

That's true, I guess. Mine seems to glide smoother over a pad, then some desk surface.

Does your desk surface have wood grain, or some other kind of surface color/texture that isn't spaced evenly? I've found that can cause stutters when you drag an optical mouse across the desk, so I taped a piece of plain white paper underneath. Actually, I saw in the store that they have notepads with grid lines that you can use as a mousepad - you can use it to write notes, or just to tear off the top sheet when it's got too many ink or food stains on it.

The desk surface is slick and formica-like. But the mouse still glides rough across it.

I've got an Apple optical Pro Mouse at the office. I didn't think I needed a mouse pad, but the plastic ring that oddly goes around the entire circumference of the mouse (instead of just having four teflon pads at the corners) has worn down to the point that the mouse no longer glides smoothly over the wood surface. I think the plastic from the ring has actually deposited itself as a layer on the desk surface making things worse. Dumb design. I need to get me a mouse pad as well.
