I pre-bought it yesterday and am waiting right now for it to come into the store.
I think I'll try to start out with a Mini Cooper S, an Alfa, a Hyundai coupe, or something different. I've always started out with a Miata or some Honda.
meanwhile, here's the intro video

I got it! It's so cool! But only played it very briefly...
The first person perspective is awesome. When you brake, the screen jolts forward, like in a real car. And if you slam into another car or into a wall, the screen gets blurry.
The only thing I don't like is that whenever you buy a car, it automatically saves the game. I used to buy, test drive, and reload my previous game if I didn't like the car.
You can transfer your a and b license and 100,000cr from your saved GT3... hehehe. With that, you can buy a brand new M3 for 73,000cr. They even have the new 3-series... it's friggin' awesome! They also have the 120d- that's pretty cool. Haven't decided which car to settle down with- so far I've limited it to a:
BMW 120d
BMW M3
Mini Cooper S
Alfa Romeo 147GTA- but in real life that heavy engine affects understeer, so I'll have to go test that out.
The default choice would be to get the M3 and run with that. But what fun would it be to own only one car? I already do that in real life. I want a 50 car garage... hehehehe.
Enough talk, time to drive!!!!

There is a multiplayer LAN mode where 6 people can race at the same time.. I don't have the modem for the PS2, so I'm not concerned.
Christ, the backgrounds are just amazing, esp. the cities. If you have spent any time there, you will recognize places.

they better have this for the PSP. multiplayer mode, too.

I'm passing on this. Although gameplay looks great and graphics are awesome, I'm waiting for online play and collision damage. Otherwise its just a very dressed up GT3 with more cars and courses.

I just got it too. Man it's bad ass, that's for sure. And if you run the rally races, the spectators actually get involved. They are not sprites like the previous GT's.

Where's that picture from? It couldn't've been rendered by the PS2 hardware; the resolution's way too high. Looks pretty nice though!

me too, but that's only because I'm cheap and don't want to shell out $49 for a game.....

speculation was that it could not. But it was confirmed last year that GT4 does support 1080i.

I can't say I find those screenshots very appealing. I can respect the level of technology required to produce that much detail, but I'd much rather play a game like Burnout 3 or Crazy Taxi, which is less realistic but more interesting to look at. Also, I think a certain amount of cartoonish physics is needed to make the game seem really responsive when you accelerate, bump into things, etc.

go sc000baru!
I just picked up a ps2 and now i'm engulfed with san andreas. it's so surreal with how a lot of things in that game are accurate with real life during the time period of the game. the slang is dead on.
anyhow. i know i'm late on it, but I think i'll wait for gt4 like in the summer.

If you want to make lots of $$$$ easily, save up for a Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C, mod it gently and go race in the Subaru one off race with the funky name- you get 125,000cr. plus a race-bred Impreza.
I just bought a BMW 120d and won that single make race, but dayum- I tried doing the beginner's FR series and whoa... a bit underpowered. So I'm gonna win another series with my Impreza and, net another 100,000cr (and some 350Z LM racing concept car), then I'll be up to 211,000cr. Buy a M5, lighten it, mod it, and beat the MR race (win a '87 Lotus Esprit Turbo HC) and the BMW "M" series race (win a BMW M3 GTR) too... depending on how good that is, maybe I can win a European race series(get a Jag XJ220).
Goddamn I love this game, it's like living out a fantasy... sure, let's get a M5, then a Lotus...oh, the M3 looks nice, and while we're at it, let's collect a Jag supercar too.
I'm working up to the McLaren F1... muhahahaha!!!!

yeah, best GTA yet, imo. a lot of the reviews i read were pissing on the graphics, but really, who buys GTA for graphics?
on GT4, i don't normally get racing games, but this one might be an exception. it looks really cool.

I am enjoying it while it lasts... because it won't be like this forever.
Today I acquired a '67 Nissan Skyline and a Nissan 350Z LM race car. Oh, and I bought a '05 BMW M5 with 642hp. Then after dinner I picked up a '03 BMW M3 GTR.
Tomorrow I'll pick up the Jag. Then I think I'll buy a Lotus or NSX... yeah that sounds about right.

How do you do that? I saw it (transferring GT3 data to the new game) in the intro but didn't say it in details. Nowadays, I can only afford to play games like this. Pick up the control and press a few buttons and then put it down. I miss FF but I just don't have the time....

You leave a card with your GT3 data on it and I think it automatically loads it up when you start the game off for the first time.
