yellowworld.org is a fairly new page, i know-- but we have loads of members. more than 100. it bothers me that we have so many members but only a handful of them are active. i mean, geez. if you look at the member list, more than 2/3 haven't posted even once. if they can't post at least once a week (at least), they don't deserve to be members at all! :twisted:

To be honest, i asked a buddy of mine who done this type of thing before. He told me that he did it so that the website looks like it has alot of members. I bet most of them were just trying to be nice.....and yes, it is a new page, but we need to advertise more online...

fuck the "hey let's make yw look good" mentality. we are good. the only reason we are good though, is because we have dedicated members who frequent this site. if the only reason some of those people joined is to be nice, they should be deleted if they don't post before one month of their registration date, and then one post within a month for every month thereafter.

sure, we could advertise more online-- but not to get more teenie bopper chicks who tYpE lIkE tHiS or who don't know what the hell time zones are. ok, that was uncalled for.. but still. get my drift?

That sounds like a good idea...a kind of mission statement. I've been trying to put together the FAQ (http://yellowworld.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ) section, where such a statement would go. So far I've got this:

It's cheesy, so I'd like everyone's comments/suggestions/input etc...

I'm all for advertisements; unfortunately, the response I've gotten from a lot of sites hasn't been great.

Fuck that, just advertise on google.com or other meta search engines..thats how i found igoo.com and asianavenue.com in the first place.

The response hasn't been too positive overall. It's so funny, but on message boards of other sites, YW will get openly criticized and/or trashed, but then the same people will private message me, telling me they think the site has potential.

So far with the Asian online communities I've seen so far, I've been kind of put off by the age ranges represented. I tallied up the ages of 12,000 people on AA once (this doesn't take into account people who lie,) and the numbers came out to 3% over the age of 26, and .005% over the age of 30. I thought this odd and kind of depressing, because nowhere on AA does it say it's a teen site.

Anyway, I basically don't log onto AA anymore for exactly that reason. :?

Not to give an excuse for people who don't post... I was never actually too active about keeping on top of Asian American news and whatnot so I figured that even if I don't post at least I could read up on whats going on with my community. Don't let em get you down AB. I mean you're doing all this on your own right? I would be pretty proud of that fact... I think you're doin allright and my poinion is the only one that matters....so there hehe
