Ok this topic for every one that's ever been to Japan or is asian and black?
How is life over there for young blasian kids who are in regular japanese schools? not foriegner schools?? And how is life different for you over there then it is here in america?
I japan i see alot of black and asian couples but not as many blasian kids ( which makes sense in some aspects) But there are a few Blasian kids in the spot light like my friend Crystal Kay ( Korean and Black J-Pop singer) and that one girl from Whiz Kids who's black and japanese. If you're blasian in Japan how is life for you? I want to know what it's like from both gender perspectives as well.
The reason I'm asking all this is because me and my girl friend ( chinese, but grew up in japan) are planning on moving back to japan, and eventually getting married and having kids. I just want to get a better understanding of how they well be treated.
Also which parent do you most identify with??

Hey dude, no offense, but you're in the wrong place for this kinda info. If you're looking for how blasians are treated in Japan, you should look online in expatriate forums. I think a lot of people were talking about blacktokyo.com for example.
YW is an Asian-American issues forum, and Blasians and their treatment in Japan isn't an Asian-American issue. I'm not denying that you might find a possible black/Japanese hapa on YW, (we have a few hanging around), but you'll find very very few blasians in Japan on this site, and fewer who have actually lived there.
Best of luck.

side note: holy shit, you know crystal kay!!!???

Yeah i've already tried Blacktokyo for responses ( infact that's my cousins website) but nobody responds in the english threads, and my kanji isn't good enough to read the japanese fourms. I'll just redirect the question to fit this site.
What about life in the states for kids who are of mixed heritage between Asian and Black?
Thanks though man.
(( ok i know this is off topic, but i love meeting people who are in Japan. we should talk sometimes like online or something )))

yeah, but we fell WAY out of contact, after she didn't join M-Flo ( my favorite japanese group next to Dragon Ash, i mean i know she didn't have to, but it WOULD HAVE BEEN COOL IF SHE DID )

She lives in Kanagawa and goes to parties at the army base from time to time I've heard. So it isn't impossible that he would know her.

Personally, I think being Blasian in Japan will work out. As long as you're willing to try to fit in, you won't be troubled.

yeah, but we fell WAY out of contact, after she didn't join M-Flo ( my favorite japanese group next to Dragon Ash, i mean i know she didn't have to, but it WOULD HAVE BEEN COOL IF SHE DID ) Crystal Kay is ok. But I always preferred the Lisa days, after she left it seemed like Verbal's ego got too big, but recently m-flo has made a couple ok tracks, but anyway. Sorry off topic.
I recall there was another person in here who seemed to be a 'Blasian' living in Japan, perhaps they can talk to you about personal experiences as Blasian. Im not that, so cant speak on it. But generally speaking, most of the younger generations are not narrow minded idiots, theyre pretty cool people. If your a cool person, then theyll know it and you'll get along fine. If youre not, they can see that too even if they dont say so. Yah, occasionally some people (young or old) make idiotic discriminatory statements, not everyone ok most people are cool, but those few stupid people are found anywhere in the world. The way I see it, just be positive about everything and itll turn out ok.

Keep the hope alive! We blasians are treated like gods in Japan! I mean, to them it's like you are the best of both worlds! You have all the dancing/musical/athletic skills of a black person and all the smarts of a Japanese person! You can't lose! What's not to like?!
They will treat you so AWESOME! You can easily move from the black community to the Japanese community and vice versa and no one will have a problem with it!
I'm living the dream right now! Join me!
Nice thread necromancy, btw.

Alot of people tell me that living in Japan is an experience can be the best experience ever, one that that you will never forget.
But I went so far with learning Mandarin Chinese (Which is still shitty, and in desperate need of improvement) and my pursuits in becoming a Nurse here in the states, that I think it's too late now for a complete change of plans to learn Japanese, learn the culture and move there. Impossible at this point.
But I did dream about it alot as a kid. And today I still do. . . .
