for the first time in my life...
i actually acquired a taste for coffee
and started to drink it on a daily basis
due to working at a coffee/tea shop...
and boy, since i ended up drinking so much coffee...
my new years resolution was to stop...
and personally, it wasnt that hard...
i mean, i never went thru caffeine withdrawal
or anything like that...

so yeah, quite honestly...
i dont think caffeine really effects me...
tea is kinda boring to me...
i'm more of a soda drinker
if anything else
i drink loads of it...
the caffeine free type...
i think its more of the seltzer aspect
is why i drink a lot of it...

i love soda, seltzer water in general...

heh i just had one this morning. Well it's like a sweet milk tea with cinnamon. You have to like milk and tea together because it's rather strong.

Both. Coffee for utilitarian reasons. Rule of thumb, no coffee after 7.

Tea: Chai, Darjeeling, Earl Grey, and Ti Kwan Yin (my favorite).

I find it nearly impossible to drink coffee.

It's too bitter for me. Even when I add so much milk that it's practically more milk than coffee.

I love my tea.

ME!

Someone had to say it!

We don't get the fabulous Coffee and Bean so I'll look for chai tea latte.

green tea with milk. Any tea is good with enough milk and sugar.

Fancy coffe is for the bourgoise.

I've tried green tea with milk and sugar before, but it's not quite as good as black tea with milk and sugar. Part of the reason is aesthetic. The milky green/yellow color seems kind of unappealing. I like the color of that really green Japanese sencha stuff. But taste-wise, certain Chinese green teas that are slightly more femented are more to my liking.

I wish I liked green tea more, because it's supposed to be good for you. Then again, so is coffee. But coffee isn't quite as good for you as tea. The best tea is black tea that's brewed really dark, and then you take it with cream and sugar, so it looks like (and tastes a little bit like) coffee.

I drink green tea every day.

Thoughts on tea and coffee...

I like to drink green tea with loose leaves, and then I'll chew the leaves and pretend I'm chewing tobacco. I've never chewed (and don't plan to pick it up) but that's how I imagine chew or dip must taste. It does give you quite a buzz, because the caffeine gets absorbed into your blood straight through your mucus membranes on your gums. And when you out the window of your vehicle spittest, and the wind catches it, it doesn't make as big a mess on the side of your truck because it hasn't got much color.

Sometimes if I'm drinking tea brewed from a teabag, I'll suck on the tea bag at the end to drain it of all the caffeine. I'm aware of how homoerotic it looks, so I try to do it discreetly.

Don't drink jasmine tea, because it sucks. I also have this impression that it's what white people think Asian people drinken, just like how some white people always eat a lot of rice at Asian restaurants, thinking that that is what Asian food supposed to be all about.

The best arabica is either Ethiopian Harrar or Kenyan. Those East Africans produce some pretty fine coffee, even if they can't afford it for themselves.

i drink so much green tea in the winter
that sometimes i go days without drinking
plain water.
i heard too much consumption of tea/coffee can
produce kidney stones.

i'm scared.

Don't drink jasmine tea, because it sucks.

I had jasmine tea at a restaurant last year and ended up pouring so much sugar into the thing trying to give it a little flavor. And it was just a small cup.

I thought it was the restaurant's fault. Cheap tea or something. But jasmine tea is just pretty bland, eh?

If you want to avoid caffeine then drink Mugi Cha, its a tea that naturally has no caffeine. Good in summer cold, or in winter hot, its my fave tea.

When you teabag, you really teabag.

I'll drink coffee for the pick-me-up, but take tea anytime, too.

Love the expensive stuff: http://www.tenren.com/ (But exclusively from here). The sharper / bitter the taste, the bettah!

What the heck is Champagne Oolong (http://www.tenren.com/fermentation.html) ?

Black tea with coffee? Bizarre. I went to a buble tea cafe recently and tried some of that pearl tea with those jelly pearls in it. Kinda weird taste sensation I thought.

I need to put lots of sugar into my coffee and tea (if it's milk tea).

Coffee never keeps me awake. I like plain tea more because I find tea much healthier than coffee. Some tea has a nice smell, helps with digestion.

Tea. I'm picky about my tea. Usually oolong, jasmine, green and black tea. No earl grey or red rose, english, chamomile stuff.

Chai occasionally when I make it, the way an Indian friend taught me. I don't like the chai in packets or the ones sold in coffeeshops - they're filled with too many ingredients, I don't taste enough cardamom or honey. The simple joy and the "clean" taste is utterly removed.

I don't like the effects coffee has on my system (or teeth). So no thanks.

I like Chai and tea with cream to a certain degree.

well, i kinda drink both...
but i like 'em iced...
even in the winter...
i prefer ice coffee or tea...
over hot...

anyways, i work at a coffee and tea store...
and today i had my drink on the counter...
a white lady customer comes in for a cup of coffee...
and asks me what do i prefer drinking...
saying she thinks i prolly dont like coffee anyways...
and instead of saying i like both...
i said something of the likes...
yeah, i'm drinking tea at the moment...
and her response to me was like...
yeah, i knew you werent a coffee drinker...
thats what i thought...
its in your culture to like tea...

and in my head i was like wow...
i never heard that one before...

I lived off Bawls in college.
OK that didn't sound right.

Anyway, I'm not a tea person at all. I started roasting my own coffee beans so my coffee is super fresh. I use a little Splenda or Equal and I started putting a tiny bit of milk in too.

i love specialty coffees.
but i also really really love chai. however, i bought a box of chai to try and make it like the coffee places do with milk and everything, but i'm not doing it right.
i'm probably just a moron, but does anyone else make their own chai/milk/whatever drinks?

kimpossible
02-10-2006, 11:56 AM
The difference might be that they steam their milk and the chai blend they use. It shouldn't taste un-chai like but slightly different if you use a different brand and heat it up in the microwave. Food usually tastes a bit different (to you) when someone else makes it for you.
