not sure where to put this, but does anyone get the feeling that young ppl (like around 18 ) are more and more becoming Republicans? I know this sounds more like something i shoulda said back in 1994, but it just seems that people around my age (22 in under a month) are becoming more conservative, and more of them are openly expressing that in identifying w/ Republicans.
As for me, I feel it's just a local thing for me NOT to be Republican. Even if I end up voting for one, I certainly am not gonna register for any party, unless i feel really strongly about some primary candidate, i guess.
Speaking of political affiliations...maybe it's time for me to register to vote. Been a US citizen for 2 yrs already and so far playing the Apathetic American perfectly. ;)

I think I'm more Libertarian than anything else. I don't want to classify myself in any party, but I definately agree on a lot of Libertarian issues. Not all, but a lot.

That's awful -- democrats and libertarians get it on way more than Republicans do.

democrats and republicans are pretty much the same these days, only a few differences in their social views.
democrats want to tax like hell to fatten up their salaries, and give a bit to the poor.
republicans want to ease the tax burden on the rich(themselves)
but lately I've been voting republican when it comes to local officials(giuliani, pataki, bloomberg), cus most democrat candidates(hilary clinton, carl mccall) leave a nasty taste in my mouth.

Just outta curiousity, what don't you like about Hillary? I was wondering how she was doing over there.
Chinalama, never fear: I think of Bush and the Republicans continue down the war path, in a few years you'll see the tide of young people turn back to the Democrats. Right now what the Democrats could use is a more identifiable figure-head. They need to get Bill more involved. He's like an all-star player sitting on the bench.

how can a New Yorker like Hilary when she was running? she's a person who has NOTHING to do with New York State yet she has the nerve to run for NY Senator?? I think it's just highly inconsistent someone not BORN in America can't run for the president but someone who lived in a state for a few months or few weeks can run for the highest state office? (and Senator ranks above governor cuz a lot of governors run for senate later but not usually vice versa)

I think it just goes in cycles. We get tired of old liberal ideas, we drift to "new" conservative ones; we get tired of old conservative ideas...you get the picture.

you know what? it makes sense, AB. it's just like everything else. cycles. statistics. blegh. it's why we get 3 republican presidents in a row, then a democratic one, and vice versa.
wow, chinalama is only 21. so young. i always thought in my mind that he was a little older than that.
